NUMBERS 14 : 20 – 30
Ten spies brought negative report about the promised land;
Only two spies, Caleb from the tribe of Judah and Joshua of
Ephraim, brought good report about Canaan.
The negative report disturbed the Israelites so much that they
decided to go back to Egypt; And they decided even to stone
Caleb and Joshua!
But the Glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle and
consequent to that GOD declared that the rebellious people
would not see the promised land.
Only two exceptions; Caleb and Joshua!
But notice GOD’s declaration about that carefully;
HE declared, in verse 24, that only Caleb would enter the
Only after some time, in verse 30, GOD uttered Joshua’s
name also along with that of Caleb!
Further, GOD commended Caleb as HIS servant, a man of
different spirit and followed GOD fully. (verse 24 ).
No word about Joshua!
Looks like Caleb a better candidate than Joshua!
May be the next leader!
But after Moses’ death, Joshua, not Caleb, became the leader!
Caleb taking care of just the tribe Judah!
Passed the test together, faced people’s anger together, saved
by the Glory of GOD together and given the privilege of entering
the promised land together; but the one who looked like number
two became the leader and the one who looked like number one
was asked to play the second fiddle!
Was it right?
Why not two leaders to lead Israel?
In what way Joshua better than Caleb?
We are not getting much news about Caleb and the journey
revolves around Joshua; we wonder whether Caleb got hurt and
retired because of his position as there were no news about him
for a long time!
But, Praise the LORD, suddenly we hear his familiar voice after
so many years; ‘Give me the mountain'( JOSHUA 14 : 12 ).
Even though he was 85, by his attitude, again he proved that
he followed his GOD fully!
All these years, as a faithful commander in Joshua’s army, he
played his part well; Never trying to overtake Joshua!
Perfect second fiddle!
Even after Joshua’s death, we see his warrior spirit in full action
by the way he challenges the other warriors to attack and take
the land of Debir (JUDGES 1 : 12).
Playing the second fiddle!
The most difficult assignment!
Important but won’t get much appreciation!
Will be there, but won’t get the limelight!
But if it is not properly played, the team will fail!
Hurt because you are always asked to play the second fiddle?
Remember, that position is reserved for the servants of GOD
like Caleb who are having a different spirit and following GOD
Yes, you are unique and you are so special!
Don’t worry about the appreciation and limelight!
Play your part well, for the glory of GOD!
HE MUST INCREASE, BUT I MUST DECREASE. ( JOHN 3 : 30 ).
The desire to possess more!
The urge to expand at any cost!
King Ahab had so much, but went home sullen and angry;
He went to bed even ignoring dinner!
Just because of a small vineyard.
The desire to possess, in fact, possessed him!
Do you know, when ever a person reaches this kind of
possessive and possessed state, the whole counsel of
devil will freely flows towards that person?
Jezebel took control of that situation; and eventually
Ahab got Naboth’s vineyard; yes, a dirty and tragic story!
But, the same sad story is repeated again and again, not
just in the world, even in our Christian circles!
Explosive expansions at any cost!
Building, buying, building, buying manipulations!
See Ahab’s strategy!
1. Having a desire to have that land.
2. Allowing that desire to control him.
3. Possessing that land becomes the vision.
4. Receiving the whole counsel of devil.
5. Planning meeting with elders and leaders to pass the vision.
6. Arranging an urgent fasting and prayer.
7. Getting linked to underground mafia.
8. Spreading lies using GOD’s name.
9. Eliminate any genuine person (if necessary, kill).
10. Unanimously making a decision to own that piece!
Is that not happening in our ministries?
Do you know the number of sincere seekers stumbled and
gone away from us just because of the way our expansion
plans are projected from the pulpit?
Do you know the number of pages wasted, in all the so called
Christian magazines, just to convince that our vision of having
one more mega building is so strategic for national revival?
Do you know how many hours are stolen from our channels to
broadcast ‘the appeal breaks’?.
Ahab and Jezebel openly declared their allegiance to Baal;
But we claim that we follow Christ and follow the way of
Jezebel in all our vampire state buildings!
GOD’s curse came so fast on Ahab and Jezebel!
The innocent peoples cheated by you are HIS children;
Don’t ever assume that we won’t reap what we sow!
Want to enlarge and expand?
Expansion is good, but only if you follow GODLY standards;
Wait in HIS presence for HIS guidance!
Be faithful in the small things!
HE promised to give ‘ THE BIG’ if we are faithful in ‘the small’.
WELL DONE, MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT, YOU HAVE BEEN
FAITHFUL IN HANDLING THIS SMALL AMOUNT, SO NOW I WILL GIVE YOU MANY MORE RESPONSIBILITIES.(MATTHEW 25 : 23).
FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS, PAUL LIVED IN HIS OWN RENTED
HOUSE. HE WELCOMED ALL WHO VISITED HIM, PROCLAIMING
THE KINGDOM OF GOD WITH ALL BOLDNESS AND TEACHING
ABOUT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ( ACTS 28 : 30).
GOD tested Abraham’s faith and obedience!
But, think about Isaac’s attitude!
He was not just a small kid; a young man who had the
strength to take up a three days journey and to carry
the wood for burnt offering on his shoulders!
How was it possible for him to obey his father like that?
How come he didn’t murmur to carry the wood to the
place of sacrifice, even when the servants were available?
And above all, how could have Abraham tied and placed
Isaac, a young man with so much strength, on the altar?
Whether Isaac tried or cried to escape from that position?
Was it possible for Abraham to do all the required things
without Isaac’s active cooperation and perfect submission?
How did Isaac empty himself of his rights and privileges
on the Mount Moriah because of his trust on his father?
Come to another mountain, Calvary!
The Father and The Son!
The Son voluntarily emptied Himself, obediently humbled
Himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on the cross!
On Mount Moriah, upto the last minute, Isaac was not clear
about his father’s plan;
But, JESUS knew the plan of HIS FATHER from ‘the beginning’!
On Mount Moriah, the son was replaced by a lamb on the altar;
But on Calvary, The SON, JESUS became the Lamb on the cross!
On Mount Moriah, the father got his son back because of the lamb;
But on Calvary, The Father opened a new way, through the LAMB,
to us to become HIS children!
Yes, we all GOT FATHER because of the perfection of The LAMB!
If Isaac wished to thank the lamb for its substitutionary death,
it was not possible because that lamb was no more;
JESUS, The LAMB of GOD, was not just allowed to die on
Calvary, but GOD raised Him up to the heights of heaven and
gave Him a name that is above every other name!
But we rarely thank HIM or The FATHER!
Yes, we, those who believed on the all sufficient death and
resurrection of The LAMB, GOT FATHER; but the question
is whether our life is a life of gratitude?
Perfect SON, Perfect submission, Perfect sacrifice, Perfect
atonement, Perfect substitution and Perfect resurrection to
make the imperfect, like me, also perfect by His Grace!
CHRIST DIED ONLY ONCE AS A SACRIFICE
TO TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF MANY PEOPLE.
HE WILL COME AGAIN BUT NOT TO DEAL
WITH OUR SINS AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME HE
WILL BRING SALVATION TO ALL THOSE WHO
ARE EAGERLY WAITING FOR HIM (HEBREWS 9 : 28)
NUMBERS 22 : 21 – 32
Balaam’s reliable mode of transport rebelled!
Submission to its master is the only thing expected from
Balaam’s donkey. Obeying higher authorities is not an
option, but mandatory. The donkey is supposed to obey
its master and submit to all his travel instructions!
But, this journey is different!
First, Balaam’s move is against the revealed will of GOD.
Second, the donkey’s eyes are ‘opened’.
Will of GOD against the ‘teachings on submission’
Continue to obey irrespective of the spiritual insight?
Or changing the direction even if it is considered as a
rebellious one by the spiritually blind Balaam?
The donkey changed its direction but got punished by
its’ stubborn master!
Again it saw clearly the foolishness of Balaam and tried
to disturb the journey by disturbing Balaam’s foot!
Again got punished by Balaam!
He is not obeying GOD but expects obedience from donkey!
Spiritually blind people are mostly self righteous, you see!
Again the donkey was forced to travel in the same direction!
But, this time the donkey did not cooperate! break down!
Balaam, in a fit of rage, beat it again with the staff!
Backsliding and rage are twins, you know!
Then it happened! Yes, the donkey spoke!
Something against the nature of the donkeys!
Something supernatural! An act of GOD!
But Balaam responded in a most foolish way!
He talked back, he did not even get surprised!
A donkey is talking and he is answering!
Yes, Spiritual blindness and passive mind are companions!
Finallly, the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes!
Rest of the story you know( or supposed to know !).
Now, come to your submission!
If any of your official or spiritual higher authorities are moving
clearly against the revealed will of GOD, how to obey them?
If you are not able to decide at least follow the donkey!
How the donkey responded?
1. Get clear spiritual vision!
2. Change your direction, a rebellion with respect!
3. If necessary hurt them, a rebellion with determination!
4. If no change, enter a state of non co operation, a
rebellion with a strong will!
5. If all else fails, do something against your nature, to get
their attention, a rebellion of confrontation!
6. In all these things, expect beatings also!. If you suffer,
because of the right thing, is it not good?
7. We are not donkeys and so we can pray unlike the donkey!
So silently pray for their eyes to get the ‘Heavenly vision’.
Remember, rebelling against a rebellious person can not be cosidered as a rebellion!
Obedience and submission are good, but only up to the level of
GOD honoring principles and practices!
On the other hand, if your reliable servants are changing direction,
entering non cooperation or confrontation, don’t get raged!
Humble yourself, repent and come back to GOD!
It is not between you and your donkey, you know,
but between you and your HEAVENLY MASTER!
SEARCH ME, O GOD, AND KNOW MY HEART;
TEST ME AND KNOW MY THOUGHTS.
POINT OUT ANYTHING IN ME THAT OFFENDS
YOU AND LEADS ME ALONG THE PATH OF
EVERLASTING LIFE ( PSALMS 139 : 23 & 24 ).
GENESIS 41 : 1 – 8, Egyptian king Pharaoh had disturbing dreams in the night; and consequently Joseph became the Prime Minister of Egypt.
In ESTHER 6 : 1 – 3, Persian king Ahasuerus could not sleep in the night; and consequently Mordecai became the number two in that kingdom.
In DANIEL 2 : 1 -3, Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar had mysterious dreams in the night; and consequently Daniel got a promotion in that kingdom.
GOD disturbing the sleep of the king; KINGSOMNIA!
See the strange similarities:
Joseph, Mordecai and Daniel did not disturb their kings to get the promotion;
Till that evening, no hint or sign of promotion or honor for them;
All the three were faithful to the Heavenly master and to their earthly masters;
All the three were meticulous in their assigned duties, even though they were unjustly brought to those positions and nations;
All the three never hesitated to use their talents, whether rewarded or not;
All the three were having their own unanswered questions;
All the three were sharp enough to utilize the opportunities given to them;
All the three readily accepted their promotions against all the odds;
All the three fixed their eyes only on GOD’s approval and not on the king’s;
All the three used their new positions for the welfare of the people;
For these kind of people, if necessary, GOD will disturb even the sleep of their kings; push the kings in to a desperate situation which can be handled only by GOD’s chosen ones!
Like Joseph, no sign of recognition or deliverance?
Like Mordecai, voluntarily simplified a crisis situation but did not get the honor?
Like Daniel, your gifts and talents were ignored in a pyramid structure?
In one night, GOD can change your story and position upside down!
But, like the three, trust GOD and do good;
Wherever GOD placed you, execute your assignments in an excellent way;
Never compromise your work standard because of non recognition;
Don’t worry too much about promotion and hikes; Just pray and surrender;
Honor your GOD; be faithful to your employer;
Never murmur or complain; your times are in GOD’s hands!
In the right time, GOD will prove that you are of different Spirit!
Remember, you are the salt and the light, GOD kept in that place!
Arise and Shine! Be an example! God will honor you!
AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DO IT HEARTILY, AS TO THE LORD
AND NOT TO MEN, KNOWING THAT FROM THE LORD YOU WILL
RECEIVE THE REWARD OF INHERITANCE, FOR YOU SERVE
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST ( COLOSSIANS 3 : 23 & 24 )
MARK 5 : 21 – 43
Jairus, the ruler of synagogue, fell at JESUS feet;
To beg earnestly for his daughter’s life.
Praying and believing in these kinds of crisis is so important but
extremely difficult; but he prayed and his prayer started giving
him signs of deliverance; Jesus got up and went with him.
But, that urgent journey got interrupted;
interrupted by an unknown person; a lady with a problem;
Is it not the time to get irritated, to loose peace?
See the contradictions in favor of Jairus;
This lady may have that sickness for twelve years, but never took
the initiative to bring JESUS in that route; it was Jairus;
What right that lady is having to interrupt?
Is not my irritation justified?
This lady, before the healing, didn’t fall at JESUS feet;
But Jairus did; How can she interrupt?
Is not my irritation justified?
She didn’t beg, no vigorous prayer, for her healing;
But Jairus traveled, begged, prayed vigorously……;
Is not my irritation justified?
Twelve years sickness, but she is still living;
But Jairus daughter almost dead, no, already dead;
Is it the time to interrupt?
Is not my irritation justified?
That lady never took a stand; so confidential, so silent;
secret belief; but Jairus prayed in public; took a stand;
What can she expect? What she deserves?
Is not my irritation justified?
Leave her, But think about JESUS!
HE knows everything; my crisis, my fears and tears;
My begging, my prayers, my initiative, my travel;
My situation, my faith and the emergency.
Then why HE wastes HIS time for these kind of people?
Why stopping the journey? Why explanation?
Why assurance and healing to that lady?
Why loosing His energy and focus?
Is this not the time to ignore the interruptions,
increase the speed and improve the concentration?
Is not my irritation justified?
Not just against the lady, but against JESUS too;
Tell me dear friends, how many times we stopped our
praying, we changed our directions, we blamed others,
got irritated, doubted His Presence and Promise just because
of some other person’s interruptions?
Some other person getting blessings is not acceptable to us?
Some other person’s testimony is laughed at by us?
Silently fuming about other’s unworthiness?
As if we deserve everything, but they don’t?
Fail to handle the interruptions properly, they will
spoil your peace, sap your energy, disturb your faith
and move you into the mold of self righteousness!
There is a better way!
First, understand the simple fact; Before GOD does something for you,
He will do something in you!
Second, your faith will not be measured by your public proclamations,
but by your silent submission and enduring patience!
Third, a matured person should understand all his initiatives and
sacrifices are not to get blessings just for himself, but for others too!
Fourth, it is the time to praise the LORD, by acknowledging the truth:
If He can do so much for a secret follower, how much more He will
do to me, who believed, prayed and took initiative;
Fifth, believing strongly that in a surrendered life, interruptions are also permitted by our LORD; not just our steps, but even our stops are in
HIS plan; Our times are in His hands!
Do you know one interesting thing? That poor lady never ever imagined
of interrupting some other person, stopping the journey and discuss;
She came behind, struggled and touched His garments and tried to
disappear; but JESUS only stopped and publicly praised her faith.
Invite the interruptions! Slow down! Praise Him!
DO NOT BE AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE!( MARK 5 : 36 )
LUKE 1 : 46 – 55
Mary: Mother of Jesus; highly favored woman; found favor with GOD;
An unique position in the history of mankind; Blessed.
She was from a small city, Nazareth of Galilee;
But, “can anything good come out of Nazareth?”.
This question was from Nathanael, ‘an Israelite in whom was no guile’,
According to Jesus (John 1 : 46 & 47).
If you read the Jewish history of that period, you can grasp the truth
behind Nathanael’s genuine doubt; Nazareth, because of is strategic
location, became a favorite military base of that time and that resulted in
dense presence of highly skilled soldiers in that area;
Consequence? Like most of the metros, that city faced a cultural confusion
and temporary prosperity and to maintain that status started compromising
and favored so many things including the immorality of the soldiers;
Slowly, that city and the residents, in particular the young girls, lost the respect of the rest of Jews;
Among all the cities of Israel, the worst rated one!
Mary was from that city; GOD’s chosen one, favored one was not from a
highly secured, separated and spiritually blessed place, but from a sin engulfed, morality compromised place!
What a wondrous woman!
Even everything in a place is not so perfect, maintaining the purity and Godly standard and becoming GOD’s favored vessel is possible.
GOD is waiting for that kind of wondrous woman!
Not just the place, but the time of Mary also deserves attention:
Biblically speaking, nearly four hundred years of divine silence;
After Malachi, no truly inspired prophet in Israel.
Politically speaking, within these four hundred years Israel became
a toy in the hands of so many kingdoms; from Persians to Romans through the Greek and Seleucids the land underwent uncertainty in every thing.
High priest post became a political post; money and king’s favor, instead
of the spiritual standards, decided the temple administration.
Pharisees, Sadducees, Herodians, Essenes and Zealots tried to define the
way of GOD in their own way and that resulted in thousands of man made
rules and regulations;
Do you think you will be having the motivation to please GOD?
See Mary, read her song, think about her faith, watch her submission;
Is it possible?
Four hundred years of political instability, economic chaos, spiritual
degradation were not able to touch this teenager’s spiritual nerve!
What a wondrous woman!
What kind of excuses we are giving for our spiritual compromises?
You know, Mary’s praise song of only ten verses is having at least ten
references from old testament; WORD POWER!
To the world four hundred years of spiritual silence, but even during
that time the faithful, like Mary, shined.
Have you noticed?
She didn’t even think about convincing Joseph about GOD’s favor;
GOD sent an angel to convince Joseph!
How many times we worry about man’s approval even after sensing
How many times we hid because of our social insecurities?
How many times we justify our compromises by blaming our kith and
kin, our surroundings and situations?
How many times we blamed our time, our political system, church scandals
and economic conditions for our lukewarm attitude?
Oh Wondrous woman, remember,
You are challenged to change the world;
And you are changed to challenge the world!
Are you ready?
LET IT BE TO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD (LUKE 1 : 38)
Work your schedule around God
don’t try to work God in around your schedule
Have you noticed?
I KINGS 17 : 4. GOD commanded the ravens to feed Elijah;
DANIEL 6 : 22. GOD sends His angel and shut the lion’s mouth;
JONAH 1 : 17. GOD prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah.
Three different kingdoms : the animal kingdom in the land,
the bird kingdom in the air,
the fish kingdom in the sea;
One common assignment : Protect the servant;
Three different methods :Mouth shut. Don’t hurt;
Bringing meat and bread to Elijah;
Swallowing but not digesting Jonah;
One common denominator: the assignments are against their respective
nature, extremely difficult to obey;
Three types of difficulties :
For the lion, only the mouth shut, but the legs were free; Hungry lions
not attacking the prey with legs is unusual, against the lion’s nature.
For the ravens, taking the food, that also meat, and giving to a human
being; It is unusual, against the ravens’ nature.
For the fish, keeping something in its stomach for three days without
applying the digestive fluids. It is unusual, against the fish’s nature.
One common thread : God assigned them some responsibility;
They executed them meticulously;
They completed them faithfully;
At the end, there is not even a hurt or damage to the servants!
The Creator commanded; the creature obeyed!
We can see many more examples in THE WORD.
Three different examples; three different kingdoms;
Three different assignments; three different servants;
Perfect Submission; Excellent Execution; Total Quality Management!
Examples OK! but the counterexample? Yes, human beings!
How are you executing the GOD given responsibilities?
Is there any damage to the persons under your care?
Physical or emotional abuse under the cover of care?
Submission or partial submission or rebellion?
Are you an example or a counterexample?
Is the assignment against your nature?
Is it extremely difficult to obey?
Tempted to damage the flock?
Remember the lion, the ravens and the fish:
If they can, why not you?
If GOD assigns you an work, he will enable you by His Spirit;
Be strong and courageous; You can.
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST
WHO STRENGTHENS ME ( PHILIPPIANS 4 : 13 )
Today I deliberately choose to submit myself fully to God as He has made Himself known to me through the Holy Scripture which I honestly accept as the only inspired, infallible, authoritative standard for all life and practice. In this day I will not judge God, His work, myself or others on the basis of feelings or circumstances.
1. I recognize by faith that the triune God is worthy of all honor, praise, and worship as the Creator, Sustainer and End of all things. I confess that God, as my Creator made me for Himself. In this day I therefore choose to live for Him. (Rev 5:9-10; Is 43:1, 7, 21; Rev 4:11).
2. I recognize by faith that God loved me and chose me in Jesus Christ before time began (Eph 1: 1-7).
3. I recognize by faith that God has proven His love to me in sending His Son to die in my place, in whom every provision has already been made for my past, present and future needs through His representative work and that I have been quickened, raised, seated with Jesus Christ in the heavenlies, and anointed with the Holy Spirit (Ro 5:6-11; 8:28-39; Phil 1:6; 4:6-7,13, 19; Eph 1:3 ; 2: 5-6; Ac 2: 1-4, 33).
4. I recognize by faith that God has accepted me, since I have received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour (Jn 1:12; Eph 1:6); that He has forgiven me (Eph 1:7); adopted me into His family, assuming every responsibility for me (Jn 17:11,17; Eph 1:5; Phil 1: 6); given me eternal life (Jn 3:36; 1Jn 5: 9-13); applied the perfect righteousness of Christ to me so that I am now justified (Ro 5:1; 8: 3-4; 10: 4); made me complete in Christ (Col 2:10); and offers Himself to me as my daily sufficiency through prayer and the decisions of faith (1 Co 1:30; Col 1:27; Gal 2:20; Jn 14: 13-14; Mt 21:22; Ro 6:1-19; Heb 4: 1-3,11).
5. I recognize by faith that the Holy Spirit has baptized me into the Body of Christ(1 Co 12:13); sealed me (Eph 1:13-14); anointed me for life and service(Ac 1:8; Jn 7:37-39); seeks to lead me into a deeper walk with Jesus Christ (Jn 14:16-18; 15:26-27; 16:13-15; Ro 8:11-16); and to fill my life with Himself (Eph 5:18).
6. I recognize by faith that only God can deal with sin and only God can produce holiness of life. I confess that in my salvation my part was only to receive Him and that He dealt with my sin and saved me. Now I confess that in order to live a holy life. I can only surrender to His will and receive Him as my sanctification; trusting Him to do whatever may be necessary in my life, without and within, so I may be enabled to live today in purity, freedom, rest and power for His glory (Jn 1:12; 1 Co 1:30; 2 Co 9:8; Gal 2:20; Heb 4: 9; 1 Jn 5:4 Jude 24).
Having Confessed that God is worthy of all praise, that the Scriptures are the only authoritive standard, that only God can deal with sin and produce holiness of life, I again recognize my total dependence upon Him and submission to Him. I accept the truth that praying in faith is absolutely necessary for the realization of the will and grace of God in my daily life ( 1 Jn 5: 14-15; Ja 2:6; 4:2-3; 5:16-18; Phil 4:6-7; Heb 4: 1-13; 11:6, 24-28).
Recognizing that faith is a total response to God by which the daily provisions the Lord has furnished in Himself are appropriated, I therefore make the following decisions of faith:
1. For this day (Heb 3:6, 13, 15:4:7) I make the decision of faith to surrender wholly to the authority of God as He has revealed Himself in the Scripture – to obey Him. I confess my sin, face the sinful reality of my old nature, and deliberately choose to walk in the light, in step with Christ, throughout the hours of this day (Ro 6: 16-20; Phil 2:12-13;1 Jn 1:7,9).
2. For this day I make the decision of faith to surrender wholly to the authority of God as revealed in the Scripture to believe Him. I accept only His Word as final authority. I now believe that since I have confessed my sin, He has forgiven and cleansed me (1 Jn 1:9). I accept at full value His word of promise to be my sufficiency and rest, and will conduct myself accordingly (Ex 33:1; 1 Co 1:30; 2 Co 9:8; Phil 4:19).
3. For this day I make the decision of faith to recognize that God has made every provision so that I may fulfill His will and calling. Therefore, I will not make any excuse for my sin and failure(1 Th 5:24).
4. For this day I make the decision of faith deliberately to receive from God that provision which He has made for me. I renounce all self-effort to live the Christian life and to perform God’s service; renounce all sinful praying which asks God to change circumstances and people so that I may be more spiritual; renounce all drawing back
from the work of the Holy Spirit within and the call of God without; and renounce all nonbiblical motives, goals, and activities which serve my sinful pride.
a. I now sincerely receive Jesus Christ as my sanctification, particularly as my cleansing from the old nature, and ask the Holy Spirit to apply to me the work of Christ accomplished for me in the crucifixion. In cooperation with and dependence upon Him, I obey the command to “put off the old man” (Ro 6:1; 1 Co 1:30; Gal 6:14; Eph 4:22).
b. I now sincerely receive Jesus Christ as my sanctification, particularly as my enablement moment by moment to live above sin, and ask the Holy Spirit to apply to me the work of the resurrection so that I may walk in newness of life. I confess that only God can deal with my sin and only God can produce holiness and the fruit of the Spirit in my life. In cooperation with and dependence upon Him, I obey the command to “Put on the new man” (Ro 6: 1-4; Eph 4: 24).
c. I now sincerely receive Jesus Christ as my deliverance from Satan and take my position with Him in the heavenlies, asking the Holy Spirit to apply to me the work of the ascension. In His Name I submit myself to God and stand against all of Satan’s influence and subtlety. In cooperation with and dependence upon God, I obey the command to “resist the devil” (Eph 1:20-23; 2:5; 4:27; 6:10-18; Col 1 :13; Heb 2:14-15; Ja 4:7; 1Pe 3:22; 5:8-9).
d. I now sincerely receive the Holy Spirit as my anointing for every aspect of life and service for today. I fully open my life to Him to fill me afresh in obedience to the command to “be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Eph 5:18; Jn 7:37-39; 14:16-17; 15:26-27; 16:7-15; Ac 1:8).
Having made this confession and these decisions of faith, I now receive God’s promised rest for this day (Heb 4:1-13). Therefore, I relax in the trust of faith, knowing that in the moment of temptation, trial, or need, the Lord Himself will be there as my strength and sufficiency (1 Co 10:13).
From the book ‘THE ADVERSARY’ by Marc Bubec.
