SUPER STARS

DANIEL 12

Have you noticed?
The only group which is going to shine like stars
forever is the group which is focusing on turning
many to righteousness?( DANIEL 12 : 3 ).
Not to the self-righteousness but to the CHRIST’s
righteousness!

Dear friend,
Don’t get frustrated by seeing the self-styled pseudo
super stars inside and outside the church!
Read the chapter carefully!
It is not saying the charismatic personalities will be
eternal super stars; Even the worship leaders are
not going to be the super stars; What about the
group donating billions for this and that? No, they
are also not given that privilege!
In fact, even the prayer warriors are not mentioned
in that verse!
The only group is that that turn many to righteousness!

Dear friend,
we can pray, give, work tirelessly but if our praying,
giving and working are not having ‘ winning the lost’
as the ultimate aim, we may not be given that privilege
of shining like stars forever!.
Of course, we can have the eternal life but not the privilege
of shining like a star forever!
We have to be careful whenever a person or group tries
to separate discipleship or social work from evangelism!
Wherever we are placed and whatever may be our position
‘ bringing others to righteousness’ should be our heartbeat!

Remember,
The ultimate prayer is praying for the lost soul!
Don’t consider yourself as a prayer warrior, if your prayer is
not bringing many to the LIGHT regularly!
Don’t give your money just to please some personalities and
leaders!
Always check, before giving, whether the recipient’s mission
statement is directly or indirectly linked to soul winning!

GOD send HIS SON to the cross, not to recruit a creamy
group of arm-chair theologians or harm-ear musicians but to
bring many sons to GLORY!
Don’t devalue that BLOOD by compromising your calling!
Don’t just work for GOD but work with GOD!

Be wise! Win souls!( PROVERBS 11 : 30 )
Why run behind a pseudo-star, when you can be a super star?

BUT IT WAS THE LORD’S GOOD PLAN TO CRUSH HIM
AND FILL HIM WITH GRIEF. YET WHEN HIS LIFE IS MADE
AN OFFERING FOR SIN, HE WILL HAVE A MULTITUDE OF
CHILDREN, MANY HEIRS.
…. AND BECAUSE OF WHAT HE HAS EXPERIENCED, MY
RIGHTEOUS SERVANT WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR MANY
TO BE COUNTED RIGHTEOUS,….
( ISAIAH 53 : 10 & 11 ).

HEALTHY HEARTITUDE

DANIEL 10

Daniel was mourning three full weeks!
Partial fasting and persistent praying!
For what?
To humble himself in the sight of the LORD and
to have a clear understanding!

Think about this; a man who served as the Chief administrative
officer for so many decades, a man who was able to interpret
so many dreams and visions, a man who met angels in his
visions as well as in the lion’s den, a man who saw in his vision
the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man, a man who had clear
revelations about the end times and a man who was able to
interpret even the writing on the wall was fasting and praying to
gain more understanding and to humble himself!

A man who excelled in his academics, administration as well
as in his spiritual life throughout his lifetime decided and set
his heart to understand and to humble himself before the LORD!

Fasting not just for one or two days but for more than twenty
one days!
So aged but so thirsty!
Even if his life had many unique achievements he had a holy
dissatisfaction!
To know and understand HIM and HIS plans more and more!

In a world where even a small success in a minor endeavor
makes human beings so proud and haughty, people like
Daniel are rare to see!
Kingdoms changed; kings changed; but Daniel’s prominence
in those kingdoms never decreased; Even then, he set his
heart to humble himself!
Daniel was not dwelling in his past glory but focused on
GOD’s glory!
No wonder the enemy tried his best for twenty one days to
disturb the prayer. ( DANIEL 10 : 13).

Dear friend,
Want to have a settled spiritual life?
Satisfied with the little Bible knowledge?
Feeling proud because of just one revelation?
Still boasting about your ‘ long long ago’ achievement?

Be warned, your contentment should be in the material
things, not in the spiritual things!
Cultivate the art of having holy dissatisfaction in your
spiritual disciplines!
More love, more power, more revelations;
More praying, more sowing, more giving;
More fasting; more thirsting, more filling;

Never allow your track record to deviate you from the track!
Praise GOD for the past achievements but don’t stop there;
Ask for new assignments; new challenges; new domains!

Be honest!
When was the last time you fasted and prayed, not for some
worldly blessings but, to know more about HIS PLANS?

Hey, the angels are waiting to bring the answers from the
THRONE, but where are the Daniels?
Anyone listening?

TAKE HEED TO THE MINISTRY WHICH YOU
HAVE RECEIVED IN THE LORD, THAT YOU
MAY FULFILL IT ( COLOSSIANS 4 : 17 )

LINK-IT-IN

DANIEL 9

Daniel prayed.
What an amazing prayer!
Praying with the WORD as the base!
Praying after spending enough time and energy to understand
the written WORD!
Praying by taking hold of the promise by trusting GOD’s grace
and faithfulness!
Praying by, not just making the faith confession because of the promise but, fasting, humbling, weeping and confessing the failure!
Truly an amazing prayer!

But what was the prayer point?
Asking GOD to cause HIS face shine on HIS sanctuary
which was desolate! ( DANIEL 9 : 17 ).
Even though there was a clear promise from GOD through
HIS prophet Jeremiah( 2 CHRONICLES 36 : 21 ), Daniel
was not claiming the promise but fought on his knees for
the fulfillment!
Reading and understanding the promise and then kneeing
and submitting the supplications; What an amazing prayer
combination!

Not just Daniel’s prayer, but the answer too is so amazing!
But the answer is not a simple yes, no or wait as we
all speak about prayer;
In fact, the restoration of Jerusalem was not the main point
in the answer but the prophetical time table, starting from the
restoration of Jerusalem, linked with the redemption plan of
the world through the MESSIAH becomes the focus!

In other words, God’s messenger Gabriel exhorts Daniel to
open his eyes to look beyond his prayer for his nation!
Link your prayer with the overall plan of GOD for the world!

Restoration of Jerusalem was so important, no doubt, but
that was only a part of HIS redemption plan!
Desolation of the land, exile, slavery and suffering were all
heartbreaking consequences of sin and the land longed for
HIS touch to regain its lost glory but GOD longed not just
for the redemption of that land but of the whole world!

Dear friend,
Most of the times we consider prayer as a tool to solve our
problems; To some extent that may be true, but we all are
expected to grasp the love and longing of the Father’s heart,
HIS redemption plan and our role in that redemption plan!

Our life is not about our problems, our visions, our missions,
our churches and our organizations, not even about our
nation but about HIS redemption plan for the world!

If we link-it-in our life, our prayer life will be transformed and
we can understand that our small story is a part of HIS big
story; this will help us to understand and accept our role in
HIS plan and to have a fruitful life.

YOUR KINGDOM COME. YOUR WILL BE DONE ON
EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN ( MATTHEW 6 : 10 )

LAW MAKER

DANIEL 6

King Darius issued a new decree regarding Daniel’s GOD!
How that happened?
Was it because of processions and petitions?
Was it because of debates and dialogues?
Was it because of hunger strikes and token strikes?

No, it was because of one man’s commitment!

His enemies were so sure about his prayer life that they knew
even if there was a law against his faith, Daniel would be praying!
In fact, even after knowing the new law and the consequent
punishment, Daniel continued his praying as usual.
In fact Daniel’s enemies were not against his prayer but used
that just to entrap him! (DANIEL 6 : 5).

How was it possible for Daniel to pray in such a way that even
his enemies could acknowledge his lifestyle of prayer?
That too with all the administrative responsibilities?

Again, think about the king’s remarks!
After throwing Daniel into the lions’ den, the king said to Daniel
‘May your GOD, whom you worship continually, rescue you’!
Daniel worshiping continually?( DANIEL 6 : 16 ).
How the king knew it?
How much time the king observed Daniel?
Was it possible for an administrator like Daniel to worship GOD
continually?

Further, the next morning the king came near the den and called
out in anguish; but instead of addressing Daniel as his servant,
he strangely called Daniel as the servant of living GOD!
Considering his servant as a servant of the living GOD?
How was it possible for Daniel to get that kind of certificate from
a king? ( DANIEL 6 : 20 ).

Dear friend,
Most of the times we trumpet ourselves as prayer warriors and
worship leaders; we try to prove to the church and to the world
about our power in prayer and talent in worship; stage managed
prayer meetings and camera conscious worship sessions make
so much news everywhere; but let it be told in a hushed voice,
that our nation is yet to see a man or woman who prays and
worships continually and effectively, like Daniel!

Shall we say that the desire of our GOD to change the law of the
land to favor HIS children, seeks and rests on a consistent and
courageous persons like Daniel whose lifestyle of prayer and
worship impacts the enemies and the authorities in a silent and
solid way?

Don’t worry about the number of enemies or the seriousness of
the law that are against us; rather dedicate yourselves to have
a lifestyle of prayer and worship!
In the right time, GOD will use the Daniels, if necessary through
the path of lion’s and angels, to rewrite the law!
Remember, even Daniel was a minority in that land; if GOD
could use his commitment to bring glory to HIS name in all those
120 provinces, why not in our land?
Will you be that Daniel?

THOSE WHO PLANT IN TEARS WILL HARVEST
WITH SHOUTS OF JOY. ( PSALM 126 : 5 ).

PURSUIT OF PLEASURE

MATTHEW 1 : 24 & 25

Joseph accepted Mary as his wife and did not know her
till she had brought forth her firstborn!.
This means, Joseph abstained himself from the sexual
pleasure nearly for a year!

Reason?
To ensure the holy birth of Jesus!
To ensure proper delivery!
Accepting Mary as his wife itself was a big challenge but,
in addition, abstaining from marital sex would have been
a tough challenge!

Even the old testament Joseph abstained himself from
the illegitimate sex; but the new testament Joseph went
an extra step by abstaining even from the legitimate sex!.

Think about that!
In a generation, where all kinds of sex are getting legalized,
where the pursuit of pleasure is projected as the only worthy
aim, where visual sex and virtual sex are the norms of the day,
and where premarital sex and extra marital sex are considered
as fashion, sacrificing even his legitimate pleasure for a period
for CHRIST’s sake is certainly a challenge to all of us!

Are we entrapped in the comfort zone mania because of our
pursuit of pleasure?
Do we justify the ‘convenio’ we are enjoying by declaring ” I
deserve it” arguments?
Do we erase the Christian principles of simplicity and sacrifice
from our vocabulary to accommodate comfort and prosperity?
Do we still believe the proper delivery of the WORD and the
pursuit of pleasure can coexist?

Dear friend.
Wish to have an impact for CHRIST’s sake?
Don’t just get satisfied with abstaining from the wrong things;
Go ahead and learn to sacrifice even the right things!.

Sacrificing extra one or two hours of sleep so that to pray a
little extra, skipping one or two meals so that to meditate the
WORD a little extra, postponing some costly purchases so
that to support missions a little extra, Oh!

Nobody will tell you that these are mandatory, but the fine line
between the achievers and the orators in GOD’s kingdom is
drawn only with these little extras!

Live a life worthy of your calling!

MY SONS, DO NOT BE NEGLIGENT NOW, FOR THE LORD
HAS CHOSEN YOU TO STAND BEFORE HIM, TO SERVE
HIM, AND THAT YOU SHOULD MINISTER TO HIM AND BURN
INCENSE. ( II CHRONICLES 29 : 11 ).

INVISIBLE INFLUENCE

ESTHER 4 : 16

Mordecai mentored Esther.
We don’t know the details of his mentoring, but we know that
he took her as his own daughter. (ESTHER 2 : 7)

We notice at least three special points about Esther which gives
us some kind of hint about Mordecai’s invisible influence;

1. We don’t know how many crises she faced when she was in
Mordecai’s house, but when she faced a crisis in the palace
she decided to face it with fasting and prayer!
Where she learned that? Who trained her in that?
Was it Mordecai’s usual method of handling crisis?

2. Esther was able to form a prayer fellowship of maids even
inside the palace!
A queen having prayer partnership with the maids?
Where she got that type of humble spirit?
Where she learned to form a prayer cell like that?
Was it Mordecai’s usual method of spending his time?

3. She asked Mordecai to raise prayer support for her by
informing all the Jews of Susan.
Who taught her not to trust her position or strength?
What influenced her to give importance to intercession
before the mission?
Was it Mordecai’s strategy for years?

Mordecai influenced Esther;
Esther influenced King Ahasuerus!
And you know the consequence!
A day of deliverance for all the Jews!

That is not the end!
Do you know King Artaxerxes was a stepson of Queen Esther?
We know the extreme favors shown by this King to Nehemiah to
build the walls of Jerusalem and to Ezra to bring a spiritual revival
among the Jews;
Even though we are not having any reference in the Bible about
Esther’s spiritual influence on her step son. the King Artaxerxes,
the king’s letter to Ezra (Ezra 7 : 12 – 26), clearly indicates some kind of invisible influence!

One Esther!
One person mentored by Mordecai!
Just only one!
See the impact!

Dear friend,
Never underestimate your influence in HIS Kingdom by seeing
the size of your flock!
Don’t get depressed by comparing your work with the mega
campaigns and statistics!
Never try to cancel a meeting just because the expected number
didn’t turn up!
Even if only one person is listening, preach!
Even if one person is reading, write!
Even if only one person is agreeing, pray!
Quantity is needed, but when that quantity will be reached is not
in our hands; only the quality of our work is in our hands; Strive!

Think and dream globally but focus and concentrate locally!

Your work will be rewarded!

FOR WHO HAS DESPISED THE DAY OF SMALL
THINGS?  ( ZECHARIAH 4 : 10 )

GONE WITH THE WIND

JONAH 3 : 3 & 8

GOD relented from the disaster that HE had said HE
would bring upon Nineveh but it displeased Jonah!
Jonah cried and prayed ‘O LORD please take my life from me’.
And he declared ‘it is better to die than to live! ‘

Again, when the plant, which gave shade to him in his
shelter, got damaged and withered because of a worm,
Jonah said in his misery ‘it is better to die than to live!’.

What a prayer!
We can very easily identify ourselves with Jonah;
We can even justify these kind of prayers!

But there is a problem;
Just few days back, Jonah prayed a diametrically
opposite kind of prayer from the fish’s belly! (chapter 2).
In his desperate situation, he cried unto the LORD to save
him from death!

His near death experience, times of darkness, three days of
mental and physical agony and hopeless state resulted in his repentance; His desire to leave darkness and to see light forced him to pray for deliverance!
GOD answered that prayer!
Jonah got the second chance!

Just few days; Jonah started praying against, his own life, the answer given by GOD!
He didn’t remember the way he got the blessing and life again!
His original prayer and his painful cry were gone out of his mind
and he murmured, complained and wished to die!.

The vows he made were all gone with the wind!

See the irony!
He failed, repented, got the grace and the second chance but
he was not able to accept GOD’s grace flowing towards repenting Nineveh!

Dear friend!
How many of us are having this kind of crooked mind which
forgets the deliverance we got from a hopeless situation?
How many of us are having the habit of hurting and hating the
GOD given blessings in our life?
How many of us, because of little discomfort, do not even remember the gracious deliverance we received from the haunted nights and the hunted days of our life?

Where are our vows, decisions and commitments?
Gone with the wind?

Repent, even for your foolish prayers!
Again and again remember your days of deliverance and
thank HIM, failing which our hearts get hardened and we
may also end up like Jonah murmuring against GOD given
blessings!

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL; AND FORGET NOT
ALL HIS BENEFITS; ( PSALM 103 : 2 ).

GIVE UNTO THE LORD THE GLORY DUE TO HIS NAME;
WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS.
( PSALM 29 : 2 )

SHEPHERD’S SUPPLICATION

PSALM 69 : 6

LET NOT THOSE WHO WAIT FOR YOU,O LORD GOD
OF HOSTS, BE ASHAMED BECAUSE OF ME; LET NOT
THOSE WHO SEEK YOU BE CONFOUNDED BECAUSE
OF ME, O GOD OF ISRAEL.

A different kind of prayer, but a profound one!
It speaks about the responsibility of every shepherd!

Doing our work in such a way that the people who knew the
LORD will get the right counsel and guidance when they are
in their waiting period.

Is it necessary?

Yes, because most of the shepherds will get confused by
seeing the prolonged waiting period of some people and so,
under the assumption of helping them, will give suggestions
contrary to the WORD; Instead of comforting, counselling
and encouraging them to endure, we compromise the will
of GOD by giving alternate ways of deliverance to them!

Result?

They get temporary relief but, in the long run, the purpose of
their waiting period gets lost and their growth gets marred!

Dear shepherd,
Even though it is painful to see some of our dear members
suffering with no sign of deliverance, never give in to the
temptation of giving counsel by leaning on your feelings rather
than on the WORD!

Remember, by cutting short the waiting period of a caterpillar,
we actually short circuit its potential to fly as a butterfly in the
future!

Even if it is difficult, again and again fall back on the WORD!

Read and remember the above verse whenever your emotion
disturb your discernment!
Make it your prayer, whenever dealing with suffering people!

We want all our members to be prosperous but not in a
confounded way!
Yes,
Sanctified suffering is superior than compromised comfort!
Wait on HIM and wait for HIM!

I WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THE LORD;
AND HE INCLINED TO ME,  AND HEARD
MY CRY. (PSALM 40 : 1)

ASCENDING ORDER

NEHEMIAH 6 : 15

Nehemiah’s burden and effort helped the people of
Jerusalem to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem just in
fifty two days.

But have you noticed the way the opposition grew?

STAGE 1: (NEHEMIAH 2 : 10)

Nehemiah reached Jerusalem but didn’t share his plans
to anyone. But even then the enemies felt disturbed by
his presence.
At this stage, there were only two enemies mentioned;
Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite.
Just two!

STAGE 2: (NEHEMIAH 2 :19)

At this stage, Nehemiah convincingly shared his plan to
the people of Jerusalem and got their support.
But see the number of enemies!

Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite
and Geshem the Arab!
It increased from two to three!

STAGE 3: (NEHEMIAH 4 : 7)

Here we see the work moving in the right direction,
but the opposition also becoming very strong!
Not just some individuals but some more people
groups were also becoming their enemies!
Sanballat and Tobiah;
The arabs, the Ammonites and the Ashdodites.
Two individuals and three people groups!

STAGE 4: (NEHEMIAH 6 : 1)
When the work was almost over, again the enemies
schemed and manipulated;
But at this stage, Nehemiah was not even able to list
out the enemies and hence simply mentions
‘Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem and the rest of our enemies’!

Dear friend,
Got confused with the pointed attacks from all directions?
If you have a vision, surely this will happen!
Just because you got a vision and a support group, never
assume your mission will not have any hindrance!

Just because you prayed well and enough,
don’t try to work in a casual manner;
Remember, Nehemiah prayed for months
before starting his mission!

Expect attacks at every stage!
Be alert and be prepared!

Don’t get discouraged by seeing the size of the enemy;
If you are alert, they can’t stop your work!
If Nehemiah could complete the work in the right time,
we also can finish our projects on time!

Read the Book of Nehemiah and notice how he handles
the challenges!

Yes, to be forewarned is to be forearmed;
Be bold and smart!
The battle belongs to the LORD!

….. …. DO NOT FEAR, FOR THOSE WHO ARE WITH
US ARE MORE THAN THOSE WHO ARE WITH THEM.
( 2 KINGS 6 : 16 )

RISKY RESPONSIBILITY

GENESIS 27 : 1 & 2

Isaac was old and almost blind and he decided to bless his
firstborn, Esau!
But, he failed to acknowledge GOD given prophecy ‘ the older son will serve the younger one’!
Further, it is a known fact that how Esau ignored his birthright for
the sake of some red stew!

Isaac somehow tried to do some favor to his first son and decided
to bless him; As a father he had the responsibility of blessing
both his sons and not just one!
Somehow favoritism entered his mind!
But see the consequence!
Rebekah’s manipulation, Jacob’s drama, Esau’s anger and plan to kill Jacob, Jacob’s escape to Paddan-aram and the twenty years of
suffering and slavery of Jacob in Laban’s place were all happening
just without any control!

Just one decision!
How it fractured Isaac’s family!
In fact Isaac started this confusion by expecting his death but the irony was that he didn’t die in a year or two but lived for 180 years and witnessed Jacob’s return to his place!
Unnecessary assumption! Unnecessary decisions!
Unnecessary consequences and heartbreaks!
Just one decision!

Dear friend,
Don’t underestimate the power of your choices and decisions
when you are in a responsible position, either in the family or
work place or ministry!
Just one decision can turn some Jacob’s life upside down!

Whether it is a minor matter or a major strategy, ask GOD’s
wisdom and don’t trust your own mind!

TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND LEAN
NOT ON YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING. SEEK HIS WILL IN
ALL YOU DO AND HE WILL DIRECT YOUR PATHS.
