II CHRONICLES 26
Excellent beginning but embarrassing end!
A king at sixteen(VERSE 1),
great warrior(VERSES 6,7 & 8),
sincere seeker and a devout follower (VERSE 5),
skilled administrator (VERSE 11),
enthusiastic lover of the soil and agriculture (VERSE 10),
victorious and famous (VERSE 8) and
a technophile (VERSE 15)!
But he was forced to dwell in an isolated house till his
Pride, the root cause of all sin! (VERSE 16).
Not willing to stay within the boundary, not ready to listen
to counsel, not hesitating to show the fury against children
of GOD and silently sidelined by Divine act (VERSES 16-20)!
Not just Uzziah, but many promising servants fell in this subtle
pit and got sidelined; Servants who had humble beginnings in
their faith life, sometimes somehow start assuming themselves
as indispensable in the Kingdom and manipulate anything and
everything to prove that.
After every victory, take time to check and humble yourself in
HIS presence and give HIM glory!
Never allow the enemy to plant a weed of pride in your heart!
GOD is not going to be impressed by your list of achievements
or statistics about your success but only by your humility!
Not just for Uzziah, but for all human beings P G B D!
Yes, Pride Goes Before Destruction!
…….GOD RESISTS THE PROUD,
BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. ( I PETER 5 : 5 )
Have you noticed?
The only group which is going to shine like stars
forever is the group which is focusing on turning
many to righteousness?( DANIEL 12 : 3 ).
Not to the self-righteousness but to the CHRIST’s
Don’t get frustrated by seeing the self-styled pseudo
super stars inside and outside the church!
Read the chapter carefully!
It is not saying the charismatic personalities will be
eternal super stars; Even the worship leaders are
not going to be the super stars; What about the
group donating billions for this and that? No, they
are also not given that privilege!
In fact, even the prayer warriors are not mentioned
in that verse!
The only group is that that turn many to righteousness!
we can pray, give, work tirelessly but if our praying,
giving and working are not having ‘ winning the lost’
as the ultimate aim, we may not be given that privilege
of shining like stars forever!.
Of course, we can have the eternal life but not the privilege
of shining like a star forever!
We have to be careful whenever a person or group tries
to separate discipleship or social work from evangelism!
Wherever we are placed and whatever may be our position
‘ bringing others to righteousness’ should be our heartbeat!
The ultimate prayer is praying for the lost soul!
Don’t consider yourself as a prayer warrior, if your prayer is
not bringing many to the LIGHT regularly!
Don’t give your money just to please some personalities and
Always check, before giving, whether the recipient’s mission
statement is directly or indirectly linked to soul winning!
GOD send HIS SON to the cross, not to recruit a creamy
group of arm-chair theologians or harm-ear musicians but to
bring many sons to GLORY!
Don’t devalue that BLOOD by compromising your calling!
Don’t just work for GOD but work with GOD!
Be wise! Win souls!( PROVERBS 11 : 30 )
Why run behind a pseudo-star, when you can be a super star?
BUT IT WAS THE LORD’S GOOD PLAN TO CRUSH HIM
AND FILL HIM WITH GRIEF. YET WHEN HIS LIFE IS MADE
AN OFFERING FOR SIN, HE WILL HAVE A MULTITUDE OF
CHILDREN, MANY HEIRS.
…. AND BECAUSE OF WHAT HE HAS EXPERIENCED, MY
RIGHTEOUS SERVANT WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR MANY
TO BE COUNTED RIGHTEOUS,….
( ISAIAH 53 : 10 & 11 ).
DANIEL 1 : 3 – 5
King Nebuchadnezzar was powerful and mighty enough
to establish a great kingdom. But he didn’t stop with his
military campaigns, instead he envisioned a great plan
to govern the kingdom in a proper manner.
See his foresight!
Even from the subdued countries, he tried to get the
His instruction to identify and recruit gifted and talented
youth of Israel, his appointment of an exclusive official
just to take care of the new recruits, his willingness to
invest in the necessary training of the youth, his attitude
of sharing even the exclusive food of the king with this
group of potential youths and the time frame of three years
he fixed for the rigorous training even though the selected
youths were highly qualified and skilled, challenges even
the HR practices of this millennium!
But his kingdom was temporal and limited; even for that he
envisioned and executed this kind of strategy!
Think about us!
We are satisfied with our little successes here and there,
not having any clear strategy for the follow-up but we claim
to represent the eternal and everlasting Kingdom.
Whenever and wherever possible, we try to label the youth
as irresponsible instead of identifying their potential.
We squarely reject the next generation as useless instead
of prayerfully planning and investing in the Daniels.
We think and assume that GOD will take care of the fruits
and avoid any noteworthy involvement with the young blood.
Every generation assumes that the next generation is not
up to the mark and so sell and send them to the world.
Compare our attitude with that of Nebuchadnezzar!
What hope he had that he could use even the youths of a
Was it not risky to put them in strategic positions?
Nebuchadnezzar risked, planned, invested and executed!
The result was obvious!
He got faithful and highly talented people like Daniel!.
If Nebuchadnezzar failed to take that risk, the talented
youth might have ended up as rebels!
Is it the reason most of our missions and ministries sadly
either die in one generation or become a family business?
Come, let us identify and appreciate the Daniels!
Let us invest time and money in their lives!
Let us follow our Master, who even in his short span of
earthly ministry invest so much in the ‘twelve’!
Pray, identify, support and sponsor at least one Daniel, on
behalf of your family, for the rigorous training in the proper
place so that the channel seeking potential of the youth can
be utilized in the enlargement of the Kingdom!.
THEN HE SAID TO HIS DISCIPLES, THE HARVEST
TRULY IS PLENTIFUL, BUT THE LABORERS ARE
FEW. THEREFORE PRAY THE LORD OF THE
HARVEST TO SEND OUT LABORERS INTO
HIS HARVEST. ( MATTHEW 9 : 37 & 38 ).
DEUTERONOMY 4 : 23 – 28
Have you noticed?.
The Israelites who murmured against GOD and doubted HIS goodness, because of the wrong report of the ten spies, were
denied entry to the promised land.
But their leader Moses, who never murmured against GOD but
always interceded for the Israelites, also got the same kind of punishment. No entry to the promised land!.
Compared to the rebellious nature of those Israelites in the
wilderness, Moses’ sudden outburst and the consequent action,
of striking the rock instead of speaking to it as commanded, looks like an infinitesimally small mistake.
But strangely, he also got the same punishment!
Even his pleading to enter the promised land was rejected!
Is it not a warning to all the leaders?
Many times people in leadership role assume, because of the
way GOD uses them, that they are privileged and hence GOD
will ignore their small mistakes. But, on the contrary, GOD’s
expectation and standard of leaders is much higher.
Leaders are expected not to cross even the minor commands.
GOD is gracious, no doubt, but the leaders are expected to use
HIS grace in such a way to hallow HIM! (NUMBERS 27 : 14).
More power means more responsibility!
More growth means more depth!
More time with people means more time with GOD!
More limelight means more hidden life!
More useful means more careful!
Leaders, who are gracious in their dealings with others but
strict with themselves with the help of the HOLY SPIRIT, are
Are you ready?
WHO KNOWS THE POWER OF YOUR ANGER?
FOR AS THE FEAR OF YOU, SO IS YOUR WRATH.
SO TEACH US TO NUMBER OUR DAYS,
THAT WE MAY GAIN A HEART OF WISDOM.
( PSALM 90 : 11 & 12 ).
ESTHER 4 : 16
Mordecai mentored Esther.
We don’t know the details of his mentoring, but we know that
he took her as his own daughter. (ESTHER 2 : 7)
We notice at least three special points about Esther which gives
us some kind of hint about Mordecai’s invisible influence;
1. We don’t know how many crises she faced when she was in
Mordecai’s house, but when she faced a crisis in the palace
she decided to face it with fasting and prayer!
Where she learned that? Who trained her in that?
Was it Mordecai’s usual method of handling crisis?
2. Esther was able to form a prayer fellowship of maids even
inside the palace!
A queen having prayer partnership with the maids?
Where she got that type of humble spirit?
Where she learned to form a prayer cell like that?
Was it Mordecai’s usual method of spending his time?
3. She asked Mordecai to raise prayer support for her by
informing all the Jews of Susan.
Who taught her not to trust her position or strength?
What influenced her to give importance to intercession
before the mission?
Was it Mordecai’s strategy for years?
Mordecai influenced Esther;
Esther influenced King Ahasuerus!
And you know the consequence!
A day of deliverance for all the Jews!
That is not the end!
Do you know King Artaxerxes was a stepson of Queen Esther?
We know the extreme favors shown by this King to Nehemiah to
build the walls of Jerusalem and to Ezra to bring a spiritual revival
among the Jews;
Even though we are not having any reference in the Bible about
Esther’s spiritual influence on her step son. the King Artaxerxes,
the king’s letter to Ezra (Ezra 7 : 12 – 26), clearly indicates some kind of invisible influence!
One person mentored by Mordecai!
Just only one!
See the impact!
Never underestimate your influence in HIS Kingdom by seeing
the size of your flock!
Don’t get depressed by comparing your work with the mega
campaigns and statistics!
Never try to cancel a meeting just because the expected number
didn’t turn up!
Even if only one person is listening, preach!
Even if one person is reading, write!
Even if only one person is agreeing, pray!
Quantity is needed, but when that quantity will be reached is not
in our hands; only the quality of our work is in our hands; Strive!
Think and dream globally but focus and concentrate locally!
Your work will be rewarded!
FOR WHO HAS DESPISED THE DAY OF SMALL
THINGS? ( ZECHARIAH 4 : 10 )
2 TIMOTHY 1 : 16 – 18
Paul in Roman prison; In his life prisons and persecutions
were so common, but this time it was painfully different;.
Unlike his first imprisonment at Rome, where he was free to
meet his friends and fellow workers by staying in a rented
house ( Acts 28 : 31 ), this time he was forced to see the
true color of roman prison!
As the Emperor Nero started the official persecution of
Christians by blaming them for the massive fire accident
at Rome, the Christians either went underground or got
scattered and this added to the misery of Paul as no one
was willing even to visit Paul. He was abandoned by almost
all. ( 2 TIMOTHY 1 : 15 ).
The cold season might have become so unbearable to the
aged Paul, he was forced to write to Timothy to bring his
cloak to the prison!
Because of the fear of governmental action, no Christian
openly supported him even in his defense in the roman
court ( 2 TIMOTHY 4 : 16 ).
Aged; abandoned; lonely; imprisoned; close to death!
Paul’s second letter to Timothy speaks about the painful
and hidden side of the servant of GOD!
But even in that darkness, there was a ray of hope!
From Ephesus, he came to Rome and sought Paul out
As local believers were afraid of Nero, even to find Paul
Onesiphorus had to take diligent efforts!
He was not even ashamed of Paul’s imprisonment but
found and refreshed Paul!
Is it not a challenge?
When the government was against Christians and when the
Christians were in hiding, visiting a person in prison who was
considered as the ring leader of the new found faith?
Yes, Onesiphorus risked his life and refreshed Paul!
Most of the times, we all assume our leaders as some kind of
super heroes and hence fail to understand their other side;
their fears and loneliness, their tears and brokenness are all
not visible to our eyes and we always expect them to comfort
and encourage us!
Even the Apostle Paul longed for that kind of refreshment!
Why not our leaders?
Who knows how many of our leaders are silently giving up as
there is no Onesiphorus in their path?
Who knows how many of our pastors long for some kind of
heavenly touch through a down to earth Onesiphorus?
Who knows how many of our ministers are doing the battle
all alone because of the careful carelessness of his flock?
Leaders are also humans; they also have needs; they also
have fears and frustrations; they also need your prayers
Be an Onesiphorus; if not to the whole world, at least in your
local church to your elders!
Pray for them, encourage them and refresh them!
May GOD bless you abundantly!
I AM A COMPANION OF ALL THOSE WHO FEAR YOU, AND
ALL THOSE WHO KEEP YOUR PRECEPTS ( PSALM 119 : 63 ).
I SAMUEL 17 : 49 & 50
David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone!
But have you noticed that that was the last time we read
anything about that talent of David?
After that battle, David, either as a commander in Saul’s army
or as the king of Israel, was involved in so many other wars
and battles; but nowhere he tried to use the sling!
He didn’t declare that his sling was more than sufficient to wage
war against all his enemies!
He didn’t form a team of soldiers with sling shot skills!
In short, he didn’t try to make his experience as a rule!
By the grace of GOD, he trained himself in all the warfare
strategies and skills; Leaning on his GOD, he meticulously
applied the learned skills in all his endeavors!
How many of us are having the problem of making an
experience as a doctrine!
GOD, in HIS grace, might have permitted us to gain a victory
using some techniques in some areas ; but that does not mean
that you are a new wave prophet with an unusual anointing and
Never ignore the systematic equipping opportunities provided
Don’t cling to your sling!
It is not the beginning, but the end is going to be important!
Even if there is a break through in your ministry because of the
new experience, come back to the WORD and train yourself in
handling the TRUTH in the proper way to be an unashamed
servant of GOD!
Don’t try to inject your experience to other soldiers!
Don’t encourage others to be your xerox copies!
Teach them the TRUTH! Honor the scriptural boundary!
Let them learn and have their own experiences!
If you are a child of GOD, they are also!
Put on the whole armor of GOD!
Praise GOD for your experiences!
But, exalt the WORD and use it as the sword!
Remember, the real reason for David’s victory was not the
sling and stone but his unwavering trust on the Almighty!
BLESSED BE THE LORD MY ROCK,
WHO TRAINS MY HANDS FOR WAR,
AND MY FINGERS FOR BATTLE.
( PSALM 144 : 1 ).
The LORD confronted Moses and was about to kill him!
After a lengthy discussion and negotiation with Moses,
the LORD convinced the hesitating Moses to take up
the assignment of leading the Israelites out of Egypt;
But when he started his journey the LORD confronted
Moses and went to the extreme of trying to kill him!
Was it not strange?
If the LORD was not happy with Moses, why HE chose
him for that assignment?
Difficult to answer!
But Moses’ wife’s immediate response in that situation
which saved Moses’ life throws some light about their
She took a flint knife and circumcised her son, threw
the foreskin at Moses’ feet and shouted ‘what a blood
smeared bridegroom you are to me?’!.
What was their problem?
Was there a fight in their family regarding their son’s
circumcision for a long time?
Was there a cultural clash between them?
Was she, being a daughter of Midianite priest, not able
to grasp the spiritual significance of circumcision?
Did Moses’ explanation about that never convince her?
Even after receiving a ‘call’ from GOD to lead, did Moses
fail miserably in leading his own family in the covenant
way by avoiding circumcision because of her reluctance?
An untold story!
But, GOD got satisfied by her response!
She was quick enough to grasp the reason behind the LORD’s anger!
Not just identified the cause, but also acted swiftly to set everything in order!
Do you have an ‘untold story’ in your life?
Did your dreams and visions about your ministry get blurred because of your life partner?
Do you struggle because of the spiritual incompatibility of your better half?
Does your calling to lead is not having an impact even in your own family?
Does your assumptions about a spiritually supportive life partner become just assumptions?
Are you getting pressed between the scriptural command of honoring your partner and fulfilling your calling?
Do you silently cry because of the shattered vision?
GOD knows how to deal with your partner!
In the right time, through ups or downs, GOD will deal with your partner!
If a daughter of a MIdianite priest can grasp the covenant
of circumcision, surely, your partner will also understand the spiritual significance of your vision!
Till that time, let your untold story be an untold story!
Never try to devalue your partner by quoting or misquoting your partner as the reason for your spiritual barrenness!
Wait! Your partner also will become a blessing!
YOU BOTH PRECEDE AND FOLLOW ME.
YOU PLACE YOUR HAND OF BLESSING
ON MY HEAD. ( PSALM 139 : 4 ).
PSALM 69 : 6
LET NOT THOSE WHO WAIT FOR YOU,O LORD GOD
OF HOSTS, BE ASHAMED BECAUSE OF ME; LET NOT
THOSE WHO SEEK YOU BE CONFOUNDED BECAUSE
OF ME, O GOD OF ISRAEL.
A different kind of prayer, but a profound one!
It speaks about the responsibility of every shepherd!
Doing our work in such a way that the people who knew the
LORD will get the right counsel and guidance when they are
in their waiting period.
Is it necessary?
Yes, because most of the shepherds will get confused by
seeing the prolonged waiting period of some people and so,
under the assumption of helping them, will give suggestions
contrary to the WORD; Instead of comforting, counselling
and encouraging them to endure, we compromise the will
of GOD by giving alternate ways of deliverance to them!
They get temporary relief but, in the long run, the purpose of
their waiting period gets lost and their growth gets marred!
Even though it is painful to see some of our dear members
suffering with no sign of deliverance, never give in to the
temptation of giving counsel by leaning on your feelings rather
than on the WORD!
Remember, by cutting short the waiting period of a caterpillar,
we actually short circuit its potential to fly as a butterfly in the
Even if it is difficult, again and again fall back on the WORD!
Read and remember the above verse whenever your emotion
disturb your discernment!
Make it your prayer, whenever dealing with suffering people!
We want all our members to be prosperous but not in a
Sanctified suffering is superior than compromised comfort!
Wait on HIM and wait for HIM!
I WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THE LORD;
AND HE INCLINED TO ME, AND HEARD
MY CRY. (PSALM 40 : 1)
A demon possessed man got deliverance, but the people
of that city pleaded with JESUS to go away!.
Even though JESUS had done a good thing to that demon
possessed man and by his deliverance to the people of that
city, JESUS was not welcomed in that place.
Was it not unusual?
Instead of bringing some more suffering persons to JESUS
to get the healing and deliverance, they asked HIM to leave.
See how the Master responds!
HE didn’t curse them or felt disappointed; HE didn’t try to
explain HIS position or good deeds there; HE didn’t even try
to make a remark against them!
But when JESUS went back, he didn’t permit the healed one
to accompany HIM; JESUS gave him a specific mission of
sharing his testimony and LORD’s deeds in his own place!
The healed person is becoming a pre-evangelist!
The Master plan of the MASTER!
Many times, after the initial breakthrough in our WORD ministry,
we expect appreciation and reception from the people and if
there is any negative reaction we take it in a personal way and
spend our prayer and energy to open that closed door!
Wherever the WORD is not allowed to move freely, there only
GOD planted us to be HIS witness!
Our position in this world is directed by the MASTER in such a
way that our words and deeds in that place will open a door for
the WORD in future!
Whatever may be our calling, we all have to be pre-evangelists!
We are the salt; as the salt increases the thirst for water, our
presence in a place should increase the people’s thirst for GOD!
We are the light; as the light exposes hidden secrets, our
presence in a place should convict the people’s inner darkness!
Your position in the world is also part of HIS plan!
Accept that and find ways to influence your surrounding!
Sometimes the WORD will have a free flow and sometimes not;
Even if the WORD is banned to enter, by your presence, you
can slowly change that place to wait for the WORD!
You are the hope of your place!
WHEN THE MOST HIGH ASSIGNED LANDS TO THE NATION
WHEN HE DIVIDED UP THE HUMAN RACE, HE ESTABLISHED
THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PEOPLES ACCORDING TO THE
NUMBER OF SONS OF GOD. ( DEUTERONOMY 32 : 8 )
