MEANINGLESS MOURNING

I SAMUEL 16 : 1

The LORD was grieved that he had made Saul king
over Israel; And so Samuel mourned for Saul!,

The very first king of Israel messed up his call;
And the LORD rejected him as king over Israel!

Was that an end?
No! Read GOD’s instruction to Samuel.
‘ How long will you mourn for Saul?’
Yes, that was the time to anoint a new king!
Samuel was expected to continue his mission.

Dear friend,
Some times we all mourn like Samuel for the lost
opportunities; As our first attempt backfired and
brought reproach to GOD’s name, we lose hope
and mourn as if all the doors are closed!.

Even though it is necessary to mourn for the things
that grieves our LORD, again and again reminding
and remembering that disgrace is also not acceptable
to GOD;
Cry, mourn and repent; But don’t dwell there!
Be practical! Get up ; Face the reality!
Ask GOD to reveal the next step!
Things which can’t be revived should be removed!

Remember, even though the first choice grieved GOD’s heart,
the next choice, David, became a man after GOD’s own heart!

Never allow a single failure in your life to make you a failure!
If you are with GOD, he will surely open new avenues for you!

I WILL MAKE RIVERS FLOW ON BARREN HEIGHTS,
AND SPRING WITHIN THE VALLEYS.
I WILL TURN THE DESERT INTO POOLS OF WATER,
AND THE PARCHED GROUND INTO SPRINGS.
( ISAIAH 41 : 18 ).

DOUBLE INSULT

LUKE 15 13 – 14

The younger son rebelled and got his share from the father
but he didn’t leave the house immediately. Few more days
he stayed in the same house and only after few days he
gathered his things and left his house.

Think about this!

Insulted his father by asking for his share and got his share
but the next few days he had so many chances to see and
hear his broken father!
Even that didn’t force him to reconsider, repent and reconcile!
The deceived heart became a hardened heart!
His father’s presence didn’t have any impact on him!.
Remember, the father could have thrown his son out of the
house immediately after giving his share but he didn’t!

Dear friend,
Even though we all have so many failures, our Father still
allows us to be in HIS presence and to hear HIS voice; but
most of the times, because of our stubbornness we try to
justify and rationalize our wrong moves instead of using
that chance to repent!
Sitting inside the church, we plan our future sinful course
of action; we ignore the gentle Voice and add insult to insult
to our Heavenly Father;

Failed?
Hear HIS voice and repent;
Don’t be stubborn even after hearing HIS voice!
Whatever may be your fall, if you repent, HIS grace will
sustain and uphold you!
Be quick to repent!

DO NOT BE LIKE THE HORSE OR LIKE THE MULE
WHICH HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING, WHICH MUST
BE HARNESSED WITH BIT AND BRIDLE, ELSE THEY
WILL NOT COME NEAR YOU. ( PSALMS 32 : 9 )

POSITIONAL VALUE

LUKE 15 : 11 – 24

Have you noticed?
When the younger son was away from his father and joined
himself to a citizen of another place, the owner considered
him worthy only of feeding the swine; Further, the master
gave more value to the swine than the younger son by not
giving even the swine pod to him to eat. Even his hard work
did not get any recognition!

Position: Away from the father; remaining in sin;
Value : Not worthy to eat even the swine pod.

But, when the younger son came back, even before he finished
his confession, the father instructed his servants to kill the fatted
calf; the father not even allowed the son to call himself a servant
but called him ‘my son’!. That too, after the loss of possessions
by the prodigal living of the younger son!. Even the heavy material
loss did not stop his recognition!

Position : Close to the father; repenting from sin;
Value: worthy to eat at the table of the father; because of this
younger son’s repentance, even the servants can get a special
and satisfying meals!

Dear friend,
Your position defines your value;
Feeling worthless, deceived, inferior and longing for the swine pod?
Check your position;
You may think that you are not away from the Father but because
of some unconfessed sin you may be away from HIM!
The longing for swine pod indicates that!
Come back!
Know and acknowledge your position in CHRIST!
HE only can satisfy our longings!

…… BUT GOD …… …… RAISED US UP TOGETHER,
AND MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN THE HEAVENLY
PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS. ( EPHESIANS 2: 4 – 6 )

ONE!…TWO!!…THREE!!!

LUKE 15

Three parables to illustrate repentance;
But have you noticed a subtle variation in the contents?

ONE: Luke 15 : 4 – 7. Lost sheep.
One in hundred;
How it got lost? – It does not matter!
Responsibility of searching lies with the owner;
He goes after it until he finds it.
Response of the sheep: It can not come back on its own
but can respond to the searching voice of the master!
Active response to the owner’s initiative!

TWO: Luke 15 : 8 – 10. Lost coin.
One in ten;
How it got lost? – It does not matter !
Responsibility of searching lies with the owner;
She seeks diligently until she finds it.
Response of the coin: It can not come back on its own
and it can not help, the owner in searching!.
Passive response to the owner’s initiative!

THREE: Luke 15 : 11 – 24.
One in two:
How he got lost? – Premeditated, willful rebellion!
Responsibility of searching becomes responsibility
of accepting provided the failed son takes the first
step of remembering the Father’s attributes and
returning back! Till that happens Father patiently waiting!
Response of the son: Accepting the unconditional acceptance!
Active response of the Father to the son’s initiative!

Dear friend, we all fail, we all fall; but we only know what
kind of failure we met;
In some cases, like the sheep, we have to wait for HIS voice
and respond;
In some other cases, like the coin, we can not move on our
own and we have to wait for HIS searching light and seeking
hands!
But in most of the cases, like the son, we have to remember
HIS love for us and HIS attributes and worth, and repent!

May GOD give you the discernment to know your state and
to respond in the right way in the right time!

I SAY TO YOU, THERE IS JOY IN THE
PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD
OVER ONE SINNER WHO REPENTS.
( LUKE 15 : 10 )

CHAINS AND CORDS

1 . JUDE  6
Angels; created by GOD; some of them sinned;
crossed their boundary; rebelled.
Follow up action?
GOD has reserved them in everlasting chains under
darkness for the judgment of the great day!.
Sinned angels chained.

2. HOSEA 11 : 4
Human beings; created by GOD; all have sinned;
fallen short of the glory of GOD; rebelled.
Follow up action?
GOD sent HIS own SON to the CROSS as their
substitute and drew them with gentle cords, with
bands of love towards HIM.
Sinned humans can get cleansed; cords; bands of love.

To sinned angels, everlasting chains; no second chance!
To the sinners, cords of love; how many chances!

Why ? In what way we are, special, better than angels?
In fact, we are little lower than the angels.(Psalm 8 : 5)
But, HE does not give aid to angels; HE does give aid to
the seed of Abraham.(HEBREWS 2 : 16 ).

Why? No one can explain!
One thing is sure; we all found favor in HIS sight!
If it can be explained, it won’t be a favor;
But, we can thank HIM; Are we doing that?

WHAT SHALL I RENDER TO THE LORD
FOR ALL HIS BENEFITS TOWARD ME?
I WILL TAKE UP THE CUP OF SALVATION,
AND CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD.
( PSALM 116 : 12 & 13 )

GOT FATHER

GENESIS 22: 1 – 24

GOD tested Abraham’s faith and obedience!

But, think about Isaac’s attitude!
He was not just a small kid; a young man who had the
strength to take up a three days journey and to carry
the wood for burnt offering on his shoulders!

How was it possible for him to obey his father like that?
How come he didn’t murmur to carry the wood to the
place of sacrifice, even when the servants were available?
And above all, how could have Abraham tied and placed
Isaac, a young man with so much strength, on the altar?
Whether Isaac tried or cried to escape from that position?
Was it possible for Abraham to do all the required things
without Isaac’s active cooperation and perfect submission?

How did Isaac empty himself of his rights and privileges
on the Mount Moriah because of his trust on his father?

Come to another mountain, Calvary!
The Father and The Son!
The Son voluntarily emptied Himself, obediently humbled
Himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on the cross!

On Mount Moriah, upto the last minute, Isaac was not clear
about his father’s plan;
But, JESUS knew the plan of HIS FATHER from ‘the beginning’!

On Mount Moriah, the son was replaced by a lamb on the altar;
But on Calvary, The SON, JESUS became the Lamb on the cross!

On Mount Moriah, the father got his son back because of the lamb;
But on Calvary, The Father opened a new way, through the LAMB,
to us to become HIS children!
Yes, we all GOT FATHER because of the perfection of The LAMB!

If Isaac wished to thank the lamb for its substitutionary death,
it was not possible because that lamb was no more;
JESUS, The LAMB of GOD, was not just allowed to die on
Calvary, but GOD raised Him up to the heights of heaven and
gave Him a name that is above every other name!
But we rarely thank HIM or The FATHER!

Yes, we, those who believed on the all sufficient death and
resurrection of The LAMB, GOT FATHER; but the question
is whether our life is a life of gratitude?

Perfect SON, Perfect submission, Perfect sacrifice, Perfect
atonement, Perfect substitution and Perfect resurrection to
make the imperfect, like me, also perfect by His Grace!

CHRIST DIED ONLY ONCE AS A SACRIFICE
TO TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF MANY PEOPLE.
HE WILL COME AGAIN BUT NOT TO DEAL
WITH OUR SINS AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME HE
WILL BRING SALVATION TO ALL THOSE WHO
ARE EAGERLY WAITING FOR HIM (HEBREWS 9 : 28)

BIAS – SCOPE

GENESIS 46 : 34

Every shepherd was an abomination to the ancient Egyptians!
Why? What was wrong in shepherding?
It was also one of the jobs; Why such a ‘bias’?

Like any other bias, no reason can be given;
But, have you noticed?

When Egypt faced crisis because of the seven year
famine, a shepherd, Joseph, became Egypt’s savior!

The abomination; The bias!
The administrator; The scope!

Nearly after 400 years, when Egypt was so powerful,
another shepherd, Moses, became Egypt’s nightmare!

The abomination: The bias!
The nightmare: The scope!

Dear friend, feeling low, humiliated, insulted, ignored,
cornered and sidelined because of any bias?
Color, caste, appearance, personality, nationality,
economic conditions, academic failures, professional
setbacks and family backgrounds are used as a snare
to build bias against you?
The world hates and hurts you, because of the bias?
Crying bitterly and silently, unknown to the world?

Remember, Joseph and Moses;
In the land where they were considered an abomination,
they proved that they were above the ‘ superiors’!

Their secret?
Their Lord!

Stop crying! Come out of the ‘ I am worthless’ shell!
Never accept the lies of the label makers!
Never allow the opinionated people to define your
potential and future!
The Creator of heavens and earth loved you,
called you, sanctified you, accepted you and
anointed you!
Let HIS WORD define your identity!
Reckon and remember your identity in Christ!
Respect your residential BOSS who is greater than
the one who is in the world!
Renew your mind by THE TRUTH!
Rest in HIS presence and regain the strength and
boldly claim ‘ I can do all things through CHRIST who
strengthens me!

Remember Joseph and Moses, who by HIS strength,
proved ‘ no weapon formed against us shall prosper’!

The GREAT SHEPHERD is your scope and hope;
Follow HIM and prove ” you are Highly favored”!
GOD BLESS YOU!

BUT YOU ARE A CHOSEN GENERATION,
A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION,
HIS OWN SPECIAL PEOPLE, THAT YOU MAY
PROCLAIM THE PRAISES OF HIM WHO CALLED
YOU OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELOUS
LIGHT ( I PETER 2 : 9 )

NOT FOR ME!

I KINGS 13 : 4, 5, 6 & 20, 21, 22,23.

A strange story; A strange prophet; A strange end;

A prophet sent by GOD against the rebellious Jeroboam;
Mighty in word and deed; able to prophesy exactly;
Courageous enough to confront Jeroboam in his land;
Protected by GOD from the angry and rebelling Jeroboam;
Was gracious enough to pray for the punished Jeroboam;
Saw GOD’s grace in healing Jeroboam when he prayed;

Oh, what a mighty man of GOD!

But alas, by a deceiving prophet, left his initial commitment;
It happens to all, is it not so?
No one is perfect; we all fall and fail somehow, somewhere;
This prophet is also not an exception;

But see his strange reaction when confronted;
The other prophet thundered the punishment;
Punishment for his disobedience, from the Lord!

But the confronted prophet continued his eating;
Finished eating and drinking and went back!
No repentance; No guilt; No crying or praying;
He continued his journey as if nothing happened;

Just think about it;
He just saw GOD’s grace by the miraculous restoration
of Jeroboam’s hand when prayed even after a fall;
But, when he disobeyed and received a prophesy about
his punishment, the death penalty, he did not show any
sign of repentance!
Why he did not cry and pray and ask forgiveness?
Even after seeing GOD’s grace in response to his
prayer for Jeroboam?

Repentance and Grace for others, but not for him?
If the rebellious Jeroboam can get another chance,
why not this mighty man of GOD?
How come he continued his eating even after the
clear revelation about his disobedience and end?
Is it not strange? He embraced the punishment!

But, dear friend, we all also can be so strange!
Seeing, reading, preaching the grace of GOD,
without a broken heart;
Simply embracing the punishment just because of
our hardened hearts, not willing to cry unto HIM!
Continuing as if nothing happened!

No need to keep the statistics of your achievements!
No need to boast about the fulfillment of the prophesy!
No need to list the number of people blessed through you!
No need to file the miracle case studies of your prayer!

But never ignore the ‘ not for me ‘ attitude in your heart!
Deal with it then and there; have a broken heart;
‘Walking wisely without any slip ‘ is great, but
When slipping, please don’t harden your heart;
Check honestly, accept your failures, cry and repent!

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger,
And abounding in mercy.
HE is just, no doubt, but HE is close to the broken people!

FOR THUS SAYS THE HIGH AND LOFTY ONE WHO
INHABITS ETERNITY, WHOSE NAME IS HOLY:
I DWELL IN THE HIGH AND HOLY PLACE, WITH HIM
WHO HAS A CONTRITE AND HUMBLE SPIRIT, TO
REVIVE THE SPIRIT OF THE HUMBLE, TO REVIVE
THE HEART OF THE CONTRITE ONES. ( ISAIAH 57 : 15).
