The LORD restored Job’s losses!
The LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before!
Friends and relatives came back.
Again peace and prosperity!
He also had seven sons and three daughters;
But what happened to his wife?
Even though Bible is silent about his wife, it is obvious
that Job didn’t get one more wife!
Was it not a challenge?
The way she shouted at him to curse GOD and die when
he was facing the worst phase of his life was sufficient
enough to break their relationship; But even after the
restoration of his health and wealth, Job continued his
life with the same person!
Not just continued, but also had seven sons and daughters!.
She also enjoyed the restored life and blessings because of
the covenant of marriage even though she failed during the
time of adversity!
Job successfully and silently faced the covenant challenges!
How many times we fume against the cutting remark of our
How many of us plan to do some kind of revenge against
our own life partner because of some silly disappointments?
How often we think of separation as the best alternative?
Marriage is a covenant made in the presence of covenant
keeping GOD; Before marriage, you have plenty of time to
think and choose; but after the marriage, no reason, may
be except sexual immorality, is sufficient enough to break
Consider Job; Even though how he treated his wife was not
explicitly written in the Bible, we can easily infer from the things
mentioned in the Bible that he had a fruitful relationship with
Hurt and insulted?; Hate that day?
Feeling deceived?; Cursing your choice?
Tempted to break the covenant?
Please don’t give up!
It is a covenant made in HIS presence!
HE also knows your struggles and fears;
Be faithful in your part of the covenant;
In the right time, GOD will restore everything;
That will be a time of peace and prosperity!
FOR THE LORD GOD OF ISRAEL SAYS THAT HE HATES
DIVORCE, FOR IT COVERS ONE’S GARMENT WITH
VIOLENCE, SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS. THEREFORE
TAKE HEED TO YOUR SPIRIT, THAT YOU DO NOT DEAL TREACHEROUSLY. ( MALACHI 2 : 16 )
The sons of Jacob were grieved and very angry when they came
to know about the defilement of their sister Dinah; In their anger
they killed so many people of that place including Shechem!
But in their anger they failed to notice some important things;
Even though Shechem dishonored her, he didn’t desert her;
What he had done was not right, but killing him was not a solution!
Shechem was willing to marry Dinah and convinced his father to
go and speak to Dinah’s father, Jacob; Instead of waiting for the
response of the father, Simeon and Levi took justice in their hands
and killed all the male of that city! (GENESIS 34 : 6).
But we notice, Dinah lived at least three days in Shechem’s house
before he got killed! (GENESIS 34 : 26).
His death further confused already dishonored Dinah’s life!.
Even though, their action looked justifiable, their father Jacob
never approved their action (GENESIS 34 : 30).
In fact, even in his death bed Jacob remembered their anger and
cursed them instead of blessing them! (GENESIS 49 : 5 -7)
Is it not true that anger rests on the bosom of the fool?
Most of us won’t even include the sin of anger in our confession
list but we forget most of the other sins are very close to anger!
Cain’s anger sent him away from his parents;
Esau’s anger sent his brother away from his parents;
Saul’s anger sent him to the hands of Philistines;
Paul’s anger cut his relationship with his mentor, Barnabas;
Moses’ anger put him outside the promised land!
We try to justify our anger by quoting JESUS’ anger in the Temple,
as if we are following JESUS on all the other things (Mark 11 : 15).
Does your situation demands an angry reaction?
Don’t react but respond with the wisdom from Above!
Renew your mind by the WORD regularly and deal with anger in a creative way!.
Do you know anger destroyed many marriages than adultery?
Do you know anger frustrated the future of many youth than drugs?
Do you know anger silenced many than the atomic bomb?
That is why, The WORD exhorts us to ‘be angry, and do not sin.
do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the
devil’. (EPHESIANS 4 : 26 & 27)
Anger opens the door to devil in your life!
Is it O.K ?
LET ALL BITTERNESS, WRATH, ANGER, CLAMOUR,
AND EVIL SPEAKING BE PUT AWAY FROM YOU, WITH
ALL MALICE. ( EPHESIANS 4 : 31 )
I Kings 22 : 32
King Jehoshaphat made peace with King of Israel!
Even though he was good in the sight of the LORD
and was doing what was right in the eyes of the LORD,
he became a friend of Ahab, the notorious king of Israel.
How it happened?
An unholy alliance!
Jehoshaphat’s son Joram got married to Ahab’s daughter
Athaliah ( II Kings 8 : 17 & 18 ).
True worshiper of GOD came close to Baal worshiper by
compromising his stand.
Even after knowing the way GOD’s prophets and servants
were killed and tortured by Ahab’s family, Jehoshaphat
compromised in the area of marriage!
Any immediate punishment from the LORD?
No, every thing went on smoothly; New alliance; New
friendship; meetings and feasts; Yes, there were no marked
warnings or punishments from the LORD; looked like the
unholy alliance got GOD’s approval!.
But, if you read carefully Jehoshaphat’s story from the books
of kings and chronicles, you can notice shocking display of
GOD’s hand against Jehoshaphat’s family!
Yes, miles to go before ……….
Just note a few;
1. Jehoshaphat unnecessarily agreed to accompany Ahab to
battle against Syrians ( I kings 22 : 4 ).
—- unholy alliance corrupts decision making.
2. Even though GOD’s prophet Micaiah was struck by false
prophets, for giving the GOD’s word, in front of Jehoshapat,
Jehoshaphat didn’t worry about that. ( I Kings 22 :24,29)
—– unholy alliance disturbs loving HIS people.
3. In the battlefield he agreed to put on Ahab’s robes and
allowed Ahab to disguise himself.( I Kings 22 : 34 )
—— unholy alliance encourages foolish behavior.
4. Jehoshaphat almost lost his life in the battle ( I kings 22: 32).
——- unholy alliance opens avenues of attacks.
5. Jehoshaphat’s business attempt failed ( II Chronicles 20: 37).
——- unholy alliance affects even the prosperity.
6. Jehoshaphat lost authority even in his own Kingdom. His
son Jehoram began to reign even though Jehoshaphat
was the king. Jehoram co-regent with his father!.( II Kings 8:16).
——– unholy alliance weakens the authority.
7. Jehoram killed all his brothers ( II chronicles 21 : 4 ).
——— unholy alliance devalues relationships.
8. Jehoram’s kingdom and life faced all kinds of problems and he
had an early death.( II Chronicles 21 : 16 – 20 ).
——— unholy alliance affects the peace of children.
9. Even Jehoram’s son Ahaziah was killed. ( II chronicles 22 : 9).
———- unholy alliance removes the layer of protection.
10. Athaliah became the queen of Judah and killed many more
of Royal family( II Chronicles 22 10 – 12 ).
———– unholy alliance gives power to the enemy.
Jehoshaphat, a successful, faithful and prosperous king, lost
almost everything just because of an unholy alliance!
Dear friend, Why take risk?
DO NOT BE UNEQUALLY YOKED TOGETHER WITH
UNBELIEVERS. FOR WHAT FELLOWSHIP HAS
RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH LAWLESSNESS? AND WHAT
COMMUNION HAS LIGHT WITH DARKNESS?
AND WHAT ACCORD HAS CHRIST WITH BELIAL?
OR WHAT PART HAS A BELIEVER WITH AN UNBELIEVER?
( 2 CORINTHIANS 6 : 14 & 15 )
In the town of Shunem;
A wealthy woman recognized Elisha as a man of GOD and
hence provided food to eat and an upper room to rest to
Nobody asked her to do that: Voluntarily and willingly, she
ministered to the prophet!
Not just voluntarily and willingly, but even when she was
barren; No child and her husband was also aged!
She served GOD with a heart of contentment!
She didn’t even reveal her problem to the prophet!
Even when the prophet wished to do some favor to
her, she didn’t exploit that situation!
Not wealthy just in the materialistic sense!
Silent sufferings but splendid servings!
No wonder GOD blessed her in a miraculous way!
But, within a few years, crisis entered her life;
The son, she got by the miracle, died!
The time to let go?
No, watch how she responded?
The silent, submissive and humble woman suddenly
became a fierce warrior!
She put her son’s body in the upper room, informs
her travel plan to her husband but not spreading the
information of her son’s death, travels from Shunem
to Mount carmel , meets the prophet and cries!
Even when Elisha sends his servant with Elisha’s staff,
she is not willing to accept that but convincing and
compelling Elisha to come to her house!
She is not willing to give up; not ready to accept any
alternate suggestions; not willing to quit;
She knows what she wants and fights to finish!
In the first part, she was so passive, not even expecting
any thing for her faithful service, humbly serving Elisha,
with the divine perspective of honoring a servant of GOD!
In the second part, she becomes so dynamic, plan and
pursue her goal of getting her son back, travelling so
much distance cries, begs, fights, struggles, convinces
and conquers, all alone!
What she received by a Promise, she was not allowing
to loose by her passive submission!
How many times we accept and embrace failures and
setbacks foolishly and passively, instead of fiercely and
diligently fight back to reclaim them?
How many areas in our lives were surrendered to our
enemy as we are not dynamic?
How many things, what we received by His promise and
His grace, were ignored and lost?
In particular, how many marriages, covenants made in
HIS presence, were allowed to die just because of our
unconditional passive attitude?
Fight back, honor the marriage vow, don’t accept the
foolish and hopeless verdict the world and your mind utter!
Revive it! Reclaim it! Be dynamic!
Finally, dear servant of GOD, how many of us passively
allowed our original vision to die and somehow managing
some kind of work just to show that we serve HIM?
The Shunamite woman was not willing to give up what
she received by the divine intervention but fought back;
Was it not worth?
Don’t give up; Be dynamic; Be alert; Be a warrior!
There is a time to stand still,
but there also is a time to fight!
Fight for your family; Fight for your vision!
You will surely testify ‘it is so sweet and worth’!.
YOU WILL TRAMPLE DOWN LIONS AND
POISONOUS SNAKES; YOU WILL CRUSH
FIERCE LIONS AND SERPENTS UNDER
YOUR FEET! ( PSALM 91 : 13 )
LUKE 1 : 36
Elizabeth means GOD is an oath.
With what kind of expectations, her parents gave her that name?
Her name seems to have lost its meaning in her life;
She is from the priestly family of Aaron; her husband, from the
Levite division of Abijah, serving in the Jerusalem temple;
But she was barren; Biblically speaking, cursed;
Was she a sinner? Why then this curse of barrenness?
Or was he a sinner? some kind of secret failure?
But the Bible is very clearly stating;
‘they were both righteous before GOD’ and
‘walking in ALL the commandments and ordinances’!
Then why? Why this barrenness?
Their side they keep the covenant in a blameless way,
But from GOD’s side, whether he remembers the covenant?
If so why Elizabeth, GOD is an oath, silently suffers?
Right questions need right answers, but those right answers will
be given only on the right time; wait!
Some curses will not be visible outside; but this barrenness will
disturb the life like a plague in the society; Public humiliation;
More than the husband, the wife will be forced to approach the
gate of reproach and disgrace; Clear sign of GOD’s disapproval;
A physical problem becoming an emotional problem and then a
psychological problem and then a social problem and…….
Poor woman, living with that label in this society, facing the subtle rumors, hearing the piercing explanations, avoiding the hate campaigns, receiving the verbal attacks even from the loved ones and crying all alone;
Oh, The most unkindest cut of all;
From a city in the hill country of Judea, Zac going to Jerusalem;
So aged, but travelling to serve in GOD’s temple!
Think about Elizabeth! What she got from GOD for their devotion?
Their righteousness before GOD? Their blameless walk?
Their sincere service for so many years?
Their most important prayer request yet to get the answer,
but this lady sending Zac, well advanced in years, to serve GOD!
You know, a man serving GOD wholeheartedly and faithfully in the
absence of his woman’s cooperation is almost impossible!
But this dear old lady, how was it possible for her to cooperate?
A wondrous woman!
With a broken heart, unanswered questions, unexplained reproach
and battling mind living in this society itself is so painful, but being
steadfast in serving and supporting her man’s service to GOD,
Oh, only a wondrous woman can do that!
When others are boasting about receiving supernatural blessings
so naturally and when she is crying about even her natural blessings
getting blocked supernaturally, is it possible to continue the faith walk?
Oh, only a wondrous woman can do that!
We serve Him and worship Him, not because of the received blessings,
because He is GOD!. A wondrous woman knows that.
You know, a wondrous woman always remains wondrous!
When Elizabeth became pregnant, Mary greets her;
Wait a minute! Is this not again an injustice?
Her son becoming a forerunner, a servant to Mary’s son?
Elizabeth and Zac proved their faithfulness by obedience, by
blameless walk and by selfless service; But Mary and Joseph yet to prove anything; Mary just a teenager and Joseph a carpenter, not even a priest;
Who deserves to be the parent of Jesus? Is it acceptable?
But see Elizabeth’s response; “Why is this granted to me, that the mother
of my Lord should come to me?’ Oh, the humility and gracious attitude!
Oh, only a wondrous woman can do that!
Dear Elizabeth, crying because of the blocked blessings?
Don’t worry, you are special, a wondrous woman!
You know, GOD always assigns the toughest assignments to His dearest
saints! He is not just a covenant making GOD, but covenant keeping GOD!
He knows your pains, frustrations and reproach;
You may not remember your prayers but He remembers!
Your tears and times are in His hands!.
Surely He will bless you!
Please continue your faith walk and good works!
Be a wondrous woman!
O YOU AFFLICTED ONE, TOSSED WITH TEMPEST, AND NOT COMFORTED,
BEHOLD, I WILL LAY YOUR STONES WITH COLORFUL GEMS, AND LAY YOUR
FOUNDATIONS WITH SAPPHIRES. I WILL MAKE YOUR PINNACLES OF RUBIES, YOUR GATES OF CRYSTAL, AND ALL YOUR WALLS OF PRECIOUS STONES. ( ISAIAH 54 : 11 & 12).
II SAMUEL 13 : 15 – 20.
A battle in David’s family;
The first born Amnon killed by the servants of the third son Absalom.
Same father but not the same mother, so bitterness natural; But,
Here the cause is not the throne ‘ who will succeed David?’
Some thing else or some one else; The beautiful Tamar!
The problem of premarital sex; fornication;
The confusing conflict between flesh and blood;
Mistaken identities of love and lust;
The consequence of no-focus life;
See Amnon, being the first born son of David, supposed to focus
on the kingdom activities. The national affairs; but his affair?
Yes, his eyes were on Tamar; No, not on Tamar’s character,
But on her beauty; his focus is only on her body; The lust
In fact, he was so distressed and became thinner day after day!
A crafty counsel and parental negligence brought Tamar to
the den of Amnon; Systematically executed date rape;
How David foolishly accepted the sinister demands of Amnon?
Is it because of his fall and the resulted family politics?
We don’t know; but a warning to Parents!
In sexual matters, in male-female bonding,
No relationship can be assumed as a reliable relationship;
No friendship can be accepted as a faithful friendship;
No age group can be acknowledged as a matured age group;
No spiritual troop can be appreciated as a holy spiritual troop;
The pull and push of lust hormones inside the human system;
Who can understand it? Who can explain or control it?
It crosses all the boundaries; all the reasoning and warnings;
Its ferociousness cannot be tamed till it devours its victim!
So Parents, with prayer and love, in your family garden,
Check, double check and cross check and do the weed pluck;
But the worst tragedy, the after effects; See Amnon!
After the devouring, he vomited Tamar;
The lecherous love becoming horrible hatred!
Result: Tamar remained desolate in Absalom’s house!
Consequence: Amnon got murdered after two years;
Absalom ran away from the kingdom; came back;
Rebelled against David, got killed; But Tamar?
The poor desolate Tamar, who can console her?
Special warning to girls!
Waiting for an invitation from Amnon & Co?
Mesmerized by the affection of love-sick Amnon?
Wish to sing ‘roses are red, violets are blue’?
Or I will paraphrase the above questions into a single question;
Want to be the next Tamar the desolate?
Go ahead, but just check the statistics!
Some Tamars married that Amnon and remained desolate;
Some Tamars married someone else and remained desolate;
The rest never got married but remained desolate!
Want to be happy ever after or desolate ever after?
True love will enrich, endear and engulf;
It will never entice, entrap and enslave;
That is just lust, lust to the core.
So flee from Amnon to GOD’S Presence;
Keep your purity as the gift for your would-be;
That is the challenge, only worthy challenge for all the girls;
Dear boys, the above warning is for you also!
But you have something extra; Don’t be an Amnon;
First accept the responsibility as a husband, then sex;
Don’t reverse the order; Don’t exploit a girl’s weakness;
The emotional scar of girls will scare them night and day;
Please don’t do that; Please understand; Please wait and pray;
Please respect a girl as a person; Please avoid all manipulations;
GOD will honor you; you shall be a blessing!
Dear parents, It is better to be labelled as a overprotective parent
then to be labelled as Parent of desolate Tamar; Do your part!
MARRIAGE IS HONORABLE AMONG ALL, AND
THE BED UNDEFILED; BUT FORNICATORS AND
ADULTERERS GOD WILL JUDGE (HEBREWS 13 : 4).
