II CHRONICLES 26

King Uzziah!
Excellent beginning but embarrassing end!

A king at sixteen(VERSE 1),
great warrior(VERSES 6,7 & 8),
sincere seeker and a devout follower (VERSE 5),
skilled administrator (VERSE 11),
enthusiastic lover of the soil and agriculture (VERSE 10),
victorious and famous (VERSE 8) and
a technophile (VERSE 15)!

But he was forced to dwell in an isolated house till his
death;
Reason?
Pride, the root cause of all sin! (VERSE 16).
Not willing to stay within the boundary, not ready to listen
to counsel, not hesitating to show the fury against children
of GOD and silently sidelined by Divine act (VERSES 16-20)!

Dear friend,
Not just Uzziah, but many promising servants fell in this subtle
pit and got sidelined; Servants who had humble beginnings in
their faith life, sometimes somehow start assuming themselves
as indispensable in the Kingdom and manipulate anything and
everything to prove that.
After every victory, take time to check and humble yourself in
HIS presence and give HIM glory!
Never allow the enemy to plant a weed of pride in your heart!
GOD is not going to be impressed by your list of achievements
or statistics about your success but only by your humility!

Not just for Uzziah, but for all human beings P G B D!
Yes, Pride Goes Before Destruction!

…….GOD RESISTS THE PROUD,
BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. ( I PETER 5 : 5 )

HEALTHY HEARTITUDE

DANIEL 10

Daniel was mourning three full weeks!
Partial fasting and persistent praying!
For what?
To humble himself in the sight of the LORD and
to have a clear understanding!

Think about this; a man who served as the Chief administrative
officer for so many decades, a man who was able to interpret
so many dreams and visions, a man who met angels in his
visions as well as in the lion’s den, a man who saw in his vision
the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man, a man who had clear
revelations about the end times and a man who was able to
interpret even the writing on the wall was fasting and praying to
gain more understanding and to humble himself!

A man who excelled in his academics, administration as well
as in his spiritual life throughout his lifetime decided and set
his heart to understand and to humble himself before the LORD!

Fasting not just for one or two days but for more than twenty
one days!
So aged but so thirsty!
Even if his life had many unique achievements he had a holy
dissatisfaction!
To know and understand HIM and HIS plans more and more!

In a world where even a small success in a minor endeavor
makes human beings so proud and haughty, people like
Daniel are rare to see!
Kingdoms changed; kings changed; but Daniel’s prominence
in those kingdoms never decreased; Even then, he set his
heart to humble himself!
Daniel was not dwelling in his past glory but focused on
GOD’s glory!
No wonder the enemy tried his best for twenty one days to
disturb the prayer. ( DANIEL 10 : 13).

Dear friend,
Want to have a settled spiritual life?
Satisfied with the little Bible knowledge?
Feeling proud because of just one revelation?
Still boasting about your ‘ long long ago’ achievement?

Be warned, your contentment should be in the material
things, not in the spiritual things!
Cultivate the art of having holy dissatisfaction in your
spiritual disciplines!
More love, more power, more revelations;
More praying, more sowing, more giving;
More fasting; more thirsting, more filling;

Never allow your track record to deviate you from the track!
Praise GOD for the past achievements but don’t stop there;
Ask for new assignments; new challenges; new domains!

Be honest!
When was the last time you fasted and prayed, not for some
worldly blessings but, to know more about HIS PLANS?

Hey, the angels are waiting to bring the answers from the
THRONE, but where are the Daniels?
Anyone listening?

TAKE HEED TO THE MINISTRY WHICH YOU
HAVE RECEIVED IN THE LORD, THAT YOU
MAY FULFILL IT ( COLOSSIANS 4 : 17 )

SECOND FIDDLE

NUMBERS 14 : 20 – 30
Ten spies brought negative report about the promised land;
Only two spies, Caleb from the tribe of Judah and Joshua of
Ephraim, brought good report about Canaan.

The negative report disturbed the Israelites so much that they
decided to go back to Egypt; And they decided even to stone
Caleb and Joshua!

But the Glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle and
consequent to that GOD declared that the rebellious people
would not see the promised land.

Only two exceptions; Caleb and Joshua!

But notice GOD’s declaration about that carefully;
HE declared, in verse 24, that only Caleb would enter the
promised land!
Only after some time, in verse 30, GOD uttered Joshua’s
name also along with that of Caleb!
Further, GOD commended Caleb as HIS servant, a man of
different spirit and followed GOD fully. (verse 24 ).
No word about Joshua!
Looks like Caleb a better candidate than Joshua!
May be the next leader!

But after Moses’ death, Joshua, not Caleb, became the leader!
Caleb taking care of just the tribe Judah!
Passed the test together, faced people’s anger together, saved
by the Glory of GOD together and given the privilege of entering
the promised land together; but the one who looked like number
two became the leader and the one who looked like number one
was asked to play the second fiddle!
Was it right?
Why not two leaders to lead Israel?
In what way Joshua better than Caleb?

We are not getting much news about Caleb and the journey
revolves around Joshua; we wonder whether Caleb got hurt and
retired because of his position as there were no news about him
for a long time!

But, Praise the LORD, suddenly we hear his familiar voice after
so many years; ‘Give me the mountain'( JOSHUA 14 : 12 ).
Even though he was 85, by his attitude, again he proved that
he followed his GOD fully!

All these years, as a faithful commander in Joshua’s army, he
played his part well; Never trying to overtake Joshua!
Perfect second fiddle!

Even after Joshua’s death, we see his warrior spirit in full action
by the way he challenges the other warriors to attack and take
the land of Debir (JUDGES 1 : 12).

Playing the second fiddle!
The most difficult assignment!
Important but won’t get much appreciation!
Will be there, but won’t get the limelight!
But if it is not properly played, the team will fail!

Dear friend,
Hurt because you are always asked to play the second fiddle?
Remember, that position is reserved for the servants of GOD
like Caleb who are having a different spirit and following GOD
fully!.

Yes, you are unique and you are so special!
Don’t worry about the appreciation and limelight!
Play your part well, for the glory of GOD!

HE MUST INCREASE, BUT I MUST DECREASE. ( JOHN 3 : 30 ).

INVISIBLE INFLUENCE

ESTHER 4 : 16

Mordecai mentored Esther.
We don’t know the details of his mentoring, but we know that
he took her as his own daughter. (ESTHER 2 : 7)

We notice at least three special points about Esther which gives
us some kind of hint about Mordecai’s invisible influence;

1. We don’t know how many crises she faced when she was in
Mordecai’s house, but when she faced a crisis in the palace
she decided to face it with fasting and prayer!
Where she learned that? Who trained her in that?
Was it Mordecai’s usual method of handling crisis?

2. Esther was able to form a prayer fellowship of maids even
inside the palace!
A queen having prayer partnership with the maids?
Where she got that type of humble spirit?
Where she learned to form a prayer cell like that?
Was it Mordecai’s usual method of spending his time?

3. She asked Mordecai to raise prayer support for her by
informing all the Jews of Susan.
Who taught her not to trust her position or strength?
What influenced her to give importance to intercession
before the mission?
Was it Mordecai’s strategy for years?

Mordecai influenced Esther;
Esther influenced King Ahasuerus!
And you know the consequence!
A day of deliverance for all the Jews!

That is not the end!
Do you know King Artaxerxes was a stepson of Queen Esther?
We know the extreme favors shown by this King to Nehemiah to
build the walls of Jerusalem and to Ezra to bring a spiritual revival
among the Jews;
Even though we are not having any reference in the Bible about
Esther’s spiritual influence on her step son. the King Artaxerxes,
the king’s letter to Ezra (Ezra 7 : 12 – 26), clearly indicates some kind of invisible influence!

One Esther!
One person mentored by Mordecai!
Just only one!
See the impact!

Dear friend,
Never underestimate your influence in HIS Kingdom by seeing
the size of your flock!
Don’t get depressed by comparing your work with the mega
campaigns and statistics!
Never try to cancel a meeting just because the expected number
didn’t turn up!
Even if only one person is listening, preach!
Even if one person is reading, write!
Even if only one person is agreeing, pray!
Quantity is needed, but when that quantity will be reached is not
in our hands; only the quality of our work is in our hands; Strive!

Think and dream globally but focus and concentrate locally!

Your work will be rewarded!

FOR WHO HAS DESPISED THE DAY OF SMALL
THINGS?  ( ZECHARIAH 4 : 10 )

KNOWLEDGE BARRIERS

MARK 6 : 1 – 6
JESUS preached in His hometown; The message was full of wisdom and power but the people refused to believe in him!
The knowledge about JESUS and His family became a stumbling block for the people to believe him even though they witnessed the wisdom and power of GOD!
Result: JESUS couldn’t do any miracle there!
Dear friend, Knowing JESUS and knowing about JESUS are not the same; Most of us know so many things and details about JESUS but try to live our life without knowing JESUS!.
Because of this knowledge, most of the times we ignore HIS visitations and waste the opportunity to know him more.
Some of us, after a time of closed walk with JESUS, will reach an imaginary saturation stage and after that dissect the WORD as if It
is a corpse in the hands of a medical student preparing the death analysis!
Remember, the WORD of GOD is living!
Don’t handle it like handling a corpse! Pray before, during and after reading the WORD!
When ever you read the WORD, humble yourself and ask for the illumination of the HOLY SPIRIT!
Remember, the people of Nazareth were able to see the power and wisdom of the WORD and even got astonished but that didn’t help them to receive HIM or HIS miracles!
We are reading the WORD not to convince others about our wisdom but to get convicted of our own foolishness!
Allow the WORD of GOD to read you, study you, dissect you and analyse you so that JESUS, the WORD, can do many miracles to and through you! That is the path of blessing!

FOR THE WORD OF GOD IS FULL OF LIVING
POWER. IT IS SHARPER THAN THE SHARPEST
KNIFE, CUTTING DEEP INTO OUR INNERMOST
THOUGHTS AND DESIRES. IT EXPOSES US FOR
WHAT WE REALLY ARE. ( HEBREWS 4 : 12 )

FINISHING TOUCH

1. JOHN 13 : 1 – 12

JESUS washed HIS disciples feet; HIS aim was to set
an example to HIS disciples. HE humbled HIMSELF,
washed all the twelve disciples feet and completed
HIS work.
But, have you noticed?
HE didn’t remain in the same state once the work got
over; HE put on HIS garments, laid aside by HIM when
HE started the assignment, and sat down again in HIS
position and taught them!
When it is necessary to humble HIMSELF, HE humbled
HIMSELF, but when it is necessary to exercise HIS true
authority, HE went back to HIS position!
The true meaning of servant- leadership.

2. LUKE 10 : 30 – 35
JESUS used a parable to illustrate the concept of neighbor;
The Good Samaritan took extreme steps to save an unknown
wounded person, sacrificed his time, materials and vehicles and
accompanied him till they reached the inn.
But, have you noticed?
Once he brought the wounded person to a safe place,
he didn’t spend his time with the wounded but transferred
the responsibility carefully and with care and then continued
his journey!
When no one is there to help a wounded person, it is good
and right to spend your time for that person; but once when you discern that the other person is in a safe position, trying
to spend time there at the cost of your vision is unnecessary!
The true meaning of servant-leadership.

Dear friends,
When it is the time to serve, if you are not willing to serve,
then that is pride;
But when it is time to exercise authority, without exercising
your authority, if you continue in the serving mode, then
that is false humility.

Remember, our LORD and SAVIOR, when HE came the
first time HE humbled HIMSELF to save us all;
But, in HIS second coming, HE is not going to humble
HIMSELF, but will exercise HIS authority as THE JUDGE!

Be humble enough to serve and courageous enough to
exercise your authority!

THEN JESUS SAID TO HIM
“GO AND DO LIKEWISE.”
( LUKE 10 : 37).

GOT FATHER

GENESIS 22: 1 – 24

GOD tested Abraham’s faith and obedience!

But, think about Isaac’s attitude!
He was not just a small kid; a young man who had the
strength to take up a three days journey and to carry
the wood for burnt offering on his shoulders!

How was it possible for him to obey his father like that?
How come he didn’t murmur to carry the wood to the
place of sacrifice, even when the servants were available?
And above all, how could have Abraham tied and placed
Isaac, a young man with so much strength, on the altar?
Whether Isaac tried or cried to escape from that position?
Was it possible for Abraham to do all the required things
without Isaac’s active cooperation and perfect submission?

How did Isaac empty himself of his rights and privileges
on the Mount Moriah because of his trust on his father?

Come to another mountain, Calvary!
The Father and The Son!
The Son voluntarily emptied Himself, obediently humbled
Himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on the cross!

On Mount Moriah, upto the last minute, Isaac was not clear
about his father’s plan;
But, JESUS knew the plan of HIS FATHER from ‘the beginning’!

On Mount Moriah, the son was replaced by a lamb on the altar;
But on Calvary, The SON, JESUS became the Lamb on the cross!

On Mount Moriah, the father got his son back because of the lamb;
But on Calvary, The Father opened a new way, through the LAMB,
to us to become HIS children!
Yes, we all GOT FATHER because of the perfection of The LAMB!

If Isaac wished to thank the lamb for its substitutionary death,
it was not possible because that lamb was no more;
JESUS, The LAMB of GOD, was not just allowed to die on
Calvary, but GOD raised Him up to the heights of heaven and
gave Him a name that is above every other name!
But we rarely thank HIM or The FATHER!

Yes, we, those who believed on the all sufficient death and
resurrection of The LAMB, GOT FATHER; but the question
is whether our life is a life of gratitude?

Perfect SON, Perfect submission, Perfect sacrifice, Perfect
atonement, Perfect substitution and Perfect resurrection to
make the imperfect, like me, also perfect by His Grace!

CHRIST DIED ONLY ONCE AS A SACRIFICE
TO TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF MANY PEOPLE.
HE WILL COME AGAIN BUT NOT TO DEAL
WITH OUR SINS AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME HE
WILL BRING SALVATION TO ALL THOSE WHO
ARE EAGERLY WAITING FOR HIM (HEBREWS 9 : 28)

CORNERED & HONORED

II CHRONICLES 20 : 1 – 30

King Jehoshaphat’s reign; The people of Ammon, Moab,
and Mount Seir came to battle against Jehoshaphat; A
great multitude cornered Judah(II chronicles 20 :1 & 2).
Unexpected battle!

Result?

King Jehoshaphat and his people found so much precious
jewelry and abundance of valuables on the dead bodies
of their enemies; The fear of GOD was on all the kingdoms
when they heard that the Lord had fought against the
enemies of Israel( II Chronicles 20 : 25 – 30 ).
Judah got honor and riches after the battle!

How the cornering became honoring?

1. Jehoshaphat humbled himself in the LORD(verse 3).
2. He acknowledged the fact ‘The LORD reigns'(verse 6).
3. He recalled GOD’s faithfulness ( verse 7 ).
4. He remembered GOD’s promises (verse 9 ).
5. He reckoned Judah’s GOD given position ( verse 11).
6. He led his dependents to seek the LORD ( verse 13 ).
7. He humbly received the WORD of GOD ( verse 18 ).
8. He trusted the received WORD and because of that trust
worshiped the LORD. ( verses 18 & 19 ).
9. He encouraged his people also to trust and worship the
LORD ( verses 20 & 21 ).
10. He made arrangements for non-stop praising and
worshiping ( verse 21).

Is it not so simple?
But, the beauty is that he moved like this when he was in
a ‘ cornered’ position!

Now, think about the crisis!
Why this kind of unexpected, unnecessary battle?
Not to crush Judah, but to give peace and prosperity!

The enemies came to battle, but why they brought so much
valuables and jewelry to battle? Is it not funny and unusual?
They brought their wealth to Judah and died!

Dear friend,
Feeling cornered by fearful problems?
Not having any hope of escape?
Fear not, this may happen as an answer to your prayer!
Yes, the so called crisis may be GOD’s way of giving you
the peace and prosperity you longed for!
Don’t consider your ‘ cornering’ as a difficulty!
In fact, it is an opportunity given by GOD!

See, even if Jehoshaphat and Judah worked throughout
the year the possibility of becoming so prosperous was
remote, but one crisis brought the wealth to the doorsteps!

Even if Jehoshaphat used all his might, it was not possible
for him to threaten all his enemies simultaneously, but a
single crisis threatened and silenced all his enemies!

That is ‘BERACHAH’!

Handle the crisis carefully!
If you are cornered, look unto the CORNERSTONE!
The battle belongs to the LORD!
You just have to gather the spoil!
Ready?
If ready, then again read the above ten points and
meditate!
Why waste an opportunity to be prosperous?

FOR AS THE HEAVENS ARE HIGHER THAN THE
EARTH, SO ARE MY WAYS HIGHER THAN YOUR
WAYS, AND MY THOUGHTS THAN YOUR
THOUGHTS( ISAIAH 55 : 9 )

LOAVES WITH LOVE

Five loaves and two fishes;
From the hands of the lad to the hands of THE LORD:
Jesus blessed and asked the disciples to serve;
Twelve baskets remained; A miracle!
But what about the lad?

A special seat near JESUS?
Thank you note personally signed by JESUS?
Remaining twelve baskets sent to the lad’s house?
A ‘golden fish’ sent as a remembrance gift?
Got a all paid scholarship to study catering miraculously?

We don’t know; My Bible is silent;
Even his name and identity not revealed!
Even his place of residence not written!

Dear friend,
Your surrender and sacrifice should be also like that;
Check yourselves;
Are you craving for a special seat, special honor,
name and fame after your “big’ sacrifice?
Lusting for special attention and limelight?
Getting irritated if nobody appreciate your sacrifice?
Going house to house to share the ‘great news’ of your
sacrifice and surrender?
Be warned!
No sacrifice can even be compared with the
GREAT and GENUINE SACRIFICE of THE LAMB!
Remember, your ability to give itself is a grace;
Don’t make it cheap;
Don’t attach and attract strings with it;

Before giving, pray, plan, discern and give;
After giving, please, don’t even remember that;
Give and it shall be given, true!
But more than that,
Every genuine giving indicates genuine transformation;
And every genuine giving results in genuine transformation!

Let your giving also have a genuine conversion!

CHILLI MISTAKES

GENESIS 21 : 14 – 19.

Hagar and Ishmael sent out by Abraham and Sarah;
Pathetic situation in the life of Sarah.
From slavery to a blessed position and then abandoned;
Her life was always controlled by some one else.

Is not natural to cry? Is it not the time to feel depressed?
Is it wrong to worry about the future of her son?
She lifted her voice and wept.

But notice the surprising response from GOD!
‘GOD heard the voice of the lad’,
she cried but her cry was not so significant .
Again the angel of GOD explains (GENESIS 21 : 17 )
‘GOD has heard the voice of the lad where he is’.

The Bible not even recorded the cry of the lad, but GOD heard it;
Hagar lifted her voice and wept, but that was not considered!

Reason?
Hagar already received a personal promise about her son
and his future(GENESIS 16 : 10, 11 &12 ).
Again GOD confirmed that to Abraham( GENESIS 17 : 20 ).
Again GOD promised that to Abraham ( GENESIS 21 : 13 ).
When GOD promised and confirmed that again and again,
Getting frustrated and crying is not expected from Hagar;
She is supposed to encourage and strengthen Ishmael,
who is yet to get the maturity to claim the promise;

Crying now means lack of faith in GOD and thinking high
about her role in the fulfillment about the promise;
You know, the child won’t die, It is having a promise!
Her cry is aiming at the death of the child!
It is a mistake to cry from her part; CHILLI mistake!

See the angel’s response;
‘Hold the lad with your hand and I will make him a great nation’
Notice carefully, no blessings promised to her, but only to the lad;
Her blessings depends on holding the hands of the lad!
With or without her help, the promise will be fulfilled;
But if she needs to be blessed, she has to be with the child!
Yes, GOD opened her eyes!

How many of us are crying with these kinds of unbelief?
We overestimate our worth in the GOD given vision, ministry;
We cry foolishly fearing the death of the vision and ministry;
Remember, GOD given vision can not die; can not be killed;
It is having life; the promise and the blessings of GOD!
Your blessings depend on your attachment and involvement;
Don’t ever imagine, if you are not there ….?

Even your cry and frustration will become a mistake;
A chilli mistake, which brings tears if mishandled;

Stop your cry; Get hold of the GOD given vision;
Your future blessings depend on that;
You are not needed for that vision;
But, you need that vision;
Understand, humble yourselves and accept your part!

WRITE THE VISION AND MAKE IT PLAIN ON TABLETS,
THAT HE MAY RUN WHO READS IT.
FOR THE VISION IS YET FOR AN APPOINTED TIME;
BUT AT THE END IT WILL SPEAK, AND IT WILL NOT LIE.
THOUGH IT TARRIES, WAIT FOR IT;
BECAUSE IT WILL SURELY COME, IT WILL NOT TARRY.
( HABAKKUK 2 : 2 & 3 )
