DANIEL 9

Daniel prayed.
What an amazing prayer!
Praying with the WORD as the base!
Praying after spending enough time and energy to understand
the written WORD!
Praying by taking hold of the promise by trusting GOD’s grace
and faithfulness!
Praying by, not just making the faith confession because of the promise but, fasting, humbling, weeping and confessing the failure!
Truly an amazing prayer!

But what was the prayer point?
Asking GOD to cause HIS face shine on HIS sanctuary
which was desolate! ( DANIEL 9 : 17 ).
Even though there was a clear promise from GOD through
HIS prophet Jeremiah( 2 CHRONICLES 36 : 21 ), Daniel
was not claiming the promise but fought on his knees for
the fulfillment!
Reading and understanding the promise and then kneeing
and submitting the supplications; What an amazing prayer
combination!

Not just Daniel’s prayer, but the answer too is so amazing!
But the answer is not a simple yes, no or wait as we
all speak about prayer;
In fact, the restoration of Jerusalem was not the main point
in the answer but the prophetical time table, starting from the
restoration of Jerusalem, linked with the redemption plan of
the world through the MESSIAH becomes the focus!

In other words, God’s messenger Gabriel exhorts Daniel to
open his eyes to look beyond his prayer for his nation!
Link your prayer with the overall plan of GOD for the world!

Restoration of Jerusalem was so important, no doubt, but
that was only a part of HIS redemption plan!
Desolation of the land, exile, slavery and suffering were all
heartbreaking consequences of sin and the land longed for
HIS touch to regain its lost glory but GOD longed not just
for the redemption of that land but of the whole world!

Dear friend,
Most of the times we consider prayer as a tool to solve our
problems; To some extent that may be true, but we all are
expected to grasp the love and longing of the Father’s heart,
HIS redemption plan and our role in that redemption plan!

Our life is not about our problems, our visions, our missions,
our churches and our organizations, not even about our
nation but about HIS redemption plan for the world!

If we link-it-in our life, our prayer life will be transformed and
we can understand that our small story is a part of HIS big
story; this will help us to understand and accept our role in
HIS plan and to have a fruitful life.

YOUR KINGDOM COME. YOUR WILL BE DONE ON
EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN ( MATTHEW 6 : 10 )

OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN!

DEUTERONOMY 1: 31 (CARRIES)

….. YOU SAW HOW THE LORD CARRIED YOU,
AS A MAN CARRIES HIS SON, IN ALL THE WAY
YOU WENT UNTIL YOU CAME TO THIS PLACE.

DEUTERONOMY 8 : 5 (CHASTENS)

……. SO YOU SHOULD KNOW IN YOUR HEART
THAT AS A MAN CHASTENS HIS SON, SO THE
LORD YOUR GOD CHASTENS YOU.

PSALM 103 : 13 (PITIES)

…AS A FATHER PITIES HIS CHILDREN, SO THE
LORD PITIES THOSE WHO FEAR HIM.

MALACHI 1 : 6

A SON HONORS HIS FATHER,
AND A SERVANT HIS MASTER.

IF THEN I AM THE FATHER,
WHERE IS MY HONOR?

AND IF I AM A MASTER,
WHERE IS MY REVERENCE?

LUKE 15 : 20

.. AND HE AROSE AND CAME TO HIS FATHER.
BUT WHEN HE WAS STILL A GREAT WAY OFF,
HIS FATHER SAW HIM AND HAD COMPASSION
AND RAN AND FELL ON HIS NECK AND KISSED
HIM.

DOUBLE INSULT

LUKE 15 13 – 14

The younger son rebelled and got his share from the father
but he didn’t leave the house immediately. Few more days
he stayed in the same house and only after few days he
gathered his things and left his house.

Think about this!

Insulted his father by asking for his share and got his share
but the next few days he had so many chances to see and
hear his broken father!
Even that didn’t force him to reconsider, repent and reconcile!
The deceived heart became a hardened heart!
His father’s presence didn’t have any impact on him!.
Remember, the father could have thrown his son out of the
house immediately after giving his share but he didn’t!

Dear friend,
Even though we all have so many failures, our Father still
allows us to be in HIS presence and to hear HIS voice; but
most of the times, because of our stubbornness we try to
justify and rationalize our wrong moves instead of using
that chance to repent!
Sitting inside the church, we plan our future sinful course
of action; we ignore the gentle Voice and add insult to insult
to our Heavenly Father;

Failed?
Hear HIS voice and repent;
Don’t be stubborn even after hearing HIS voice!
Whatever may be your fall, if you repent, HIS grace will
sustain and uphold you!
Be quick to repent!

DO NOT BE LIKE THE HORSE OR LIKE THE MULE
WHICH HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING, WHICH MUST
BE HARNESSED WITH BIT AND BRIDLE, ELSE THEY
WILL NOT COME NEAR YOU. ( PSALMS 32 : 9 )

DADDY COOL!

LUKE 15

Have you noticed?

In Luke 15 : 6, the man who found his lost sheep invited his
friends and neighbors to rejoice with him;
In Luke 15 : 9, the woman who found the lost coin invited her
friends and neighbors to rejoice with her;
But in Luke 15 : 23, when the younger son came back,
the father didn’t invite his friends or neighbors but only his
servants to rejoice with him!
Why?

Is it because of the Father’s nature to cover and not to
advertise about HIS children’s failures?

In fact, when the younger son used the word ‘sin’ in his
confession to his father in front of his servants, the father
quickly changed the subject and instructed the servants to
concentrate on the feast!
Is he not remembering anything of the repentant child’s past?

Again, when the elder son tried his best to remind his father
about the past life of his brother with all the details, the father
quickly changed the subject by explaining the elder one’s
privileges and not the younger one’s past?
Is he not allowing even the elder one to speak about the forgiven
sins of his own brother?

Strange but true!
For the father, ‘My son was dead and is alive again!’ is the only
way to express the things happened in his family; Whenever
repentance restores relationship, the father ignores the past
and influences his elder son and his servants also to ignore the
past of his younger son.
It is a family problem, why friends and neighbors?

Dear friend,
If you repented and confessed your sins once, your father won’t remember them anymore!
Sometimes, like the younger son, your own mind may deceive
you to think, worry, feel guilty and speak about the confessed sin
again and again!.
If you are feeling guilty about the confessed and forgiven sin,
that is an insult to our Father and His Word!
Don’t try to explain your sin in detail under the cover of ‘ sharing
your testimony’; rather speak about HIS grace in detail!

Who can understand the depth of HIS grace?

Sometimes, may be most of the times, the elders may try to belittle
you by listing out the details even after your repentance!
Ignore them!. Stay close to your Father!
What your Father think and say about you only matters!

HE says that you are alive!
Why live like a corpse?

Let the power of resurrection fills you with the everlasting joy, hope
and peace!

Repented? Our Father asked us to rejoice!
Let us rejoice!

THE LORD YOUR GOD IN YOUR MIDST,
THE MIGHTY ONE, WILL SAVE;
HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH GLADNESS,
HE WILL QUIET YOU IN HIS LOVE,
HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH SINGING.
( HABAKKUK 3 : 17 )

ASSUMPTION ABOUT ASSUMPTION

GENESIS 41 : 46 – 57

Joseph became an administrator of Egypt when he was thirty.
His painful days came to an end and he reached a honorable position!
But, a surprising and shocking thing happened !

Even though he loved his father so much, he didn’t take any initiative to meet his father; Egypt was so close to Israel but he didn’t even open up
any line of communication with his father; He had authority and power to send at least some soldiers to Israel to get some information about his father, but he didn’t do that! Why?

Pharaoh arranged Joseph’s marriage and even for that Joseph didn’t even try to invite his father!
In fact when he got his first son, he named him Manasseh by saying ‘ for GOD has made me forget all my toil and all my father’s house’!.
Forgetting his father’s house? Why?

Nearly for thirteen years he didn’t get a chance to see his loving father,
but when he had the choice of reaching out to his father, he tried to forget his father’s family! Why?

Seven years of prosperity ended and the famine started; almost twenty years away from father but Joseph didn’t take any initiative!
Even when he recognized his brothers when they came to Egypt to buy
grains, he didn’t immediately try to bring his father to Egypt!
We know Joseph had problems with his brothers but why he behaved in
such a way regarding his father?

There is only one possible explanation!
Assumption!
Yes, Joseph could have assumed Jacob, his father, also as a co-conspirator with Joseph’s brothers!
See, when Joseph got his second dream, his father actually scolded him;
Further, Jacob only sent him to meet his brothers at Shechem; Joseph’s
sufferings started from there!

But, what was the truth?
Joseph’s brothers killed a kid of the goats and dipped Joseph’s tunic in its
blood and sent that to Jacob to convince that Joseph was killed by some wild animals!
Jacob believed their lies and assumed Joseph dead;
But Joseph didn’t know this part of his story!
So the possibility of assuming his father also as a co- conspirator might
have affected him!

In fact, he revealed his identity to his brothers only after Judah explained
about Jacob’s assumption about Joseph’s death! ( GENESIS 44 : 27-29)

Assumption?
Is it true? We don’t know!
Our assumption about Joseph’s assumption may be right or wrong!
But, how many of us have the same kind of assumptions?

Some times we also foolishly assume that our loving heavenly Father is
also a co- conspirator with our enemies!
We complain and murmur against our Father without knowing the Truth!
We try to avoid HIS presence, HIS word and HIS fellowship for years by
assuming HIM as the reason for our sufferings!
But, do you know, in your suffering, HE also suffers?
Yes, that is the Truth!
Joseph suffered only for thirteen years in Egypt;
But Jacob suffered at least twenty years in his own land because of his separation from Joseph; and in that twenty plus years at least seven plus years of the father’s suffering might have been because of Joseph’s assumption!

The Father’s heart!
Don’t break it because of some assumption about HIS love!
HE loves you!
Bring HIM closer to you! That is HIS only pleasure!

CAN A VIRGIN FORGET HER ORNAMENTS,
OR A BRIDE HER ATTIRE?. YET MY PEOPLE
HAVE FORGOTTEN ME DAYS WITHOUT
NUMBER. ( JEREMIAH 2 : 32 )

POSITIONAL VALUE

LUKE 15 : 11 – 24

Have you noticed?
When the younger son was away from his father and joined
himself to a citizen of another place, the owner considered
him worthy only of feeding the swine; Further, the master
gave more value to the swine than the younger son by not
giving even the swine pod to him to eat. Even his hard work
did not get any recognition!

Position: Away from the father; remaining in sin;
Value : Not worthy to eat even the swine pod.

But, when the younger son came back, even before he finished
his confession, the father instructed his servants to kill the fatted
calf; the father not even allowed the son to call himself a servant
but called him ‘my son’!. That too, after the loss of possessions
by the prodigal living of the younger son!. Even the heavy material
loss did not stop his recognition!

Position : Close to the father; repenting from sin;
Value: worthy to eat at the table of the father; because of this
younger son’s repentance, even the servants can get a special
and satisfying meals!

Dear friend,
Your position defines your value;
Feeling worthless, deceived, inferior and longing for the swine pod?
Check your position;
You may think that you are not away from the Father but because
of some unconfessed sin you may be away from HIM!
The longing for swine pod indicates that!
Come back!
Know and acknowledge your position in CHRIST!
HE only can satisfy our longings!

…… BUT GOD …… …… RAISED US UP TOGETHER,
AND MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN THE HEAVENLY
PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS. ( EPHESIANS 2: 4 – 6 )

ONE!…TWO!!…THREE!!!

LUKE 15

Three parables to illustrate repentance;
But have you noticed a subtle variation in the contents?

ONE: Luke 15 : 4 – 7. Lost sheep.
One in hundred;
How it got lost? – It does not matter!
Responsibility of searching lies with the owner;
He goes after it until he finds it.
Response of the sheep: It can not come back on its own
but can respond to the searching voice of the master!
Active response to the owner’s initiative!

TWO: Luke 15 : 8 – 10. Lost coin.
One in ten;
How it got lost? – It does not matter !
Responsibility of searching lies with the owner;
She seeks diligently until she finds it.
Response of the coin: It can not come back on its own
and it can not help, the owner in searching!.
Passive response to the owner’s initiative!

THREE: Luke 15 : 11 – 24.
One in two:
How he got lost? – Premeditated, willful rebellion!
Responsibility of searching becomes responsibility
of accepting provided the failed son takes the first
step of remembering the Father’s attributes and
returning back! Till that happens Father patiently waiting!
Response of the son: Accepting the unconditional acceptance!
Active response of the Father to the son’s initiative!

Dear friend, we all fail, we all fall; but we only know what
kind of failure we met;
In some cases, like the sheep, we have to wait for HIS voice
and respond;
In some other cases, like the coin, we can not move on our
own and we have to wait for HIS searching light and seeking
hands!
But in most of the cases, like the son, we have to remember
HIS love for us and HIS attributes and worth, and repent!

May GOD give you the discernment to know your state and
to respond in the right way in the right time!

I SAY TO YOU, THERE IS JOY IN THE
PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD
OVER ONE SINNER WHO REPENTS.
( LUKE 15 : 10 )

BIAS – SCOPE

GENESIS 46 : 34

Every shepherd was an abomination to the ancient Egyptians!
Why? What was wrong in shepherding?
It was also one of the jobs; Why such a ‘bias’?

Like any other bias, no reason can be given;
But, have you noticed?

When Egypt faced crisis because of the seven year
famine, a shepherd, Joseph, became Egypt’s savior!

The abomination; The bias!
The administrator; The scope!

Nearly after 400 years, when Egypt was so powerful,
another shepherd, Moses, became Egypt’s nightmare!

The abomination: The bias!
The nightmare: The scope!

Dear friend, feeling low, humiliated, insulted, ignored,
cornered and sidelined because of any bias?
Color, caste, appearance, personality, nationality,
economic conditions, academic failures, professional
setbacks and family backgrounds are used as a snare
to build bias against you?
The world hates and hurts you, because of the bias?
Crying bitterly and silently, unknown to the world?

Remember, Joseph and Moses;
In the land where they were considered an abomination,
they proved that they were above the ‘ superiors’!

Their secret?
Their Lord!

Stop crying! Come out of the ‘ I am worthless’ shell!
Never accept the lies of the label makers!
Never allow the opinionated people to define your
potential and future!
The Creator of heavens and earth loved you,
called you, sanctified you, accepted you and
anointed you!
Let HIS WORD define your identity!
Reckon and remember your identity in Christ!
Respect your residential BOSS who is greater than
the one who is in the world!
Renew your mind by THE TRUTH!
Rest in HIS presence and regain the strength and
boldly claim ‘ I can do all things through CHRIST who
strengthens me!

Remember Joseph and Moses, who by HIS strength,
proved ‘ no weapon formed against us shall prosper’!

The GREAT SHEPHERD is your scope and hope;
Follow HIM and prove ” you are Highly favored”!
GOD BLESS YOU!

BUT YOU ARE A CHOSEN GENERATION,
A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION,
HIS OWN SPECIAL PEOPLE, THAT YOU MAY
PROCLAIM THE PRAISES OF HIM WHO CALLED
YOU OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELOUS
LIGHT ( I PETER 2 : 9 )

EXCUSE ME, PLEASE

SONG OF SONGS 5 : 2 – 4.

A wonderful relationship between the Lover and the beloved:
What kind of trust He has in the beloved!
Even if it is night, even if she is sleeping, He approaches with
confidence; gently knocking at the door;
Oh, what a wonderful girl!
Just by listening the knocking sound, no words used,
able to discern that the knock is made by Him;
See how He appreciates her!
My Darling!; My Treasure!; My Love!; My Dove!
What more a beloved needs?
Accepted; Admired: Appreciated by The Lover!

The Lover gently shares His burden;
My head is soaked with dew, my hair with the wetness;
Can you please open the door, I need your help?
Oh, what an opportunity!
A chance to serve Him; touch His head; comfort Him;
He also wants to share His burden, His needs;
He is searching for a reliable person to share that!

Who will miss this golden opportunity?,
Run, open the door and grab the opportunity!
Wait, wait, the door is not opened; she is telling something!
‘Excuse me, Please!’;
What? Why?
Excuse 1:
‘ I have taken off my robe, should I get dressed again?’
If the person knocking at the door is the Groom,
do you think any bride will give this as a reason?
She enjoys everything without grasping His greatness?

Excuse 2:
‘ I have washed my feet, should I get them soiled?’
The Master is sharing about a problem of the head and
this dear lady is worrying about soiling her feet!
What kind of lady is she? How He selected her?
Does she deserve His affection and appreciation?
Is it possible to give these kind of insulting excuses?

Excuse me, Please, Don’t judge her!
It is not her story, but your story!

How many times your Master, The King, The Lover
tried to share His burden to you, but received a cold
response, meaningless excuses, irrational stories
from you?
Do you really know His attributes, His worth?
Do you know the value of serving Him?
Do you really love Him?
Or just enjoying His blessings and asking more and more?

He called you His friend, Co-heir, Beloved, Royal Priest,
Saint, His bride, Holy and Perfect, etc, etc..;

Did you really understand His High Calling?

WHAT ARE MORTALS THAT
YOU SHOULD THINK OF US,
MERE HUMANS THAT YOU
SHOULD CARE FOR US?

HIDDEN HINTS

LUKE 15 : 11 – 32

A well known parable; Father and the lost son!
We know it, accepted it; enjoyed it; we all were like the lost son;
When we come to the second part of the parable, we usually hate the attitude of the elder son; His actions and attitude are so natural, so common in an ordinary family of this world.

But, in the DIVINE family?.
Compare the parable and the reality.

1. PARABLE: The younger son took the initiative to come back.
( verse 18).
REALITY:THE FATHER took the initiative to bring us all back.

2. PARABLE: The older son was in the field, when the reunion of father and the lost son happened. (verse 25).
REALITY: The only SON was on the cross, when we all got the right to call GOD as our FATHER!.

3. PARABLE: As the father received the younger son safe and sound, he killed the fatted calf.( verse 27).
REALITY: To receive us safe and sound, THE FATHER allowed the killing of THE UNBLEMISHED LAMB!

4. PARABLE: The older son felt unhappy to share the inheritance with his brother.(verse 30)
REALITY:THE SON, by HIS sacrificial death, made us all co-heirs with HIM! Not ashamed to call us HIS brothers!

5. PARABLE: The older son was not able to accept his brother coming near to his father.(verse 28).
REALITY: THE SON opened a new way, by HIS flesh, for all of us to come boldly to THE FATHER’s presence.

6. PARABLE: The older son was not willing to sacrifice even a calf (verse 30)
REALITY:THE SON poured out even HIS soul unto death voluntarily.

7. PARABLE: The older son was not interested to share his father’s house with his brother.(verse 28)
REALITY: THE SON, after HIS death and resurrection, started preparing a place for the adopted sons, us, in HIS FATHER’s mansion.

8. The older son argued with his father by explaining his brother’s failures in detail.( verse 30).
REALITY:THE SON is interceding for us, even now, by covering our transgressions by HIS blood.

Do you really know the meaning of The Cross and The Grace?

…..HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE IF WE NEGLECT
SO GREAT SALVATION?( HEBREWS 2 : 3 ).

Note: I didn’t give the Bible references for all the above REALITY points; Can you please spend little extra time in Scriptures to find the suitable references?
