I SAMUEL 16 : 1
The LORD was grieved that he had made Saul king
over Israel; And so Samuel mourned for Saul!,
The very first king of Israel messed up his call;
And the LORD rejected him as king over Israel!
Was that an end?
No! Read GOD’s instruction to Samuel.
‘ How long will you mourn for Saul?’
Yes, that was the time to anoint a new king!
Samuel was expected to continue his mission.
Some times we all mourn like Samuel for the lost
opportunities; As our first attempt backfired and
brought reproach to GOD’s name, we lose hope
and mourn as if all the doors are closed!.
Even though it is necessary to mourn for the things
that grieves our LORD, again and again reminding
and remembering that disgrace is also not acceptable
Cry, mourn and repent; But don’t dwell there!
Be practical! Get up ; Face the reality!
Ask GOD to reveal the next step!
Things which can’t be revived should be removed!
Remember, even though the first choice grieved GOD’s heart,
the next choice, David, became a man after GOD’s own heart!
Never allow a single failure in your life to make you a failure!
If you are with GOD, he will surely open new avenues for you!
I WILL MAKE RIVERS FLOW ON BARREN HEIGHTS,
AND SPRING WITHIN THE VALLEYS.
I WILL TURN THE DESERT INTO POOLS OF WATER,
AND THE PARCHED GROUND INTO SPRINGS.
( ISAIAH 41 : 18 ).
The sons of Jacob were grieved and very angry when they came
to know about the defilement of their sister Dinah; In their anger
they killed so many people of that place including Shechem!
But in their anger they failed to notice some important things;
Even though Shechem dishonored her, he didn’t desert her;
What he had done was not right, but killing him was not a solution!
Shechem was willing to marry Dinah and convinced his father to
go and speak to Dinah’s father, Jacob; Instead of waiting for the
response of the father, Simeon and Levi took justice in their hands
and killed all the male of that city! (GENESIS 34 : 6).
But we notice, Dinah lived at least three days in Shechem’s house
before he got killed! (GENESIS 34 : 26).
His death further confused already dishonored Dinah’s life!.
Even though, their action looked justifiable, their father Jacob
never approved their action (GENESIS 34 : 30).
In fact, even in his death bed Jacob remembered their anger and
cursed them instead of blessing them! (GENESIS 49 : 5 -7)
Is it not true that anger rests on the bosom of the fool?
Most of us won’t even include the sin of anger in our confession
list but we forget most of the other sins are very close to anger!
Cain’s anger sent him away from his parents;
Esau’s anger sent his brother away from his parents;
Saul’s anger sent him to the hands of Philistines;
Paul’s anger cut his relationship with his mentor, Barnabas;
Moses’ anger put him outside the promised land!
We try to justify our anger by quoting JESUS’ anger in the Temple,
as if we are following JESUS on all the other things (Mark 11 : 15).
Does your situation demands an angry reaction?
Don’t react but respond with the wisdom from Above!
Renew your mind by the WORD regularly and deal with anger in a creative way!.
Do you know anger destroyed many marriages than adultery?
Do you know anger frustrated the future of many youth than drugs?
Do you know anger silenced many than the atomic bomb?
That is why, The WORD exhorts us to ‘be angry, and do not sin.
do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the
devil’. (EPHESIANS 4 : 26 & 27)
Anger opens the door to devil in your life!
Is it O.K ?
LET ALL BITTERNESS, WRATH, ANGER, CLAMOUR,
AND EVIL SPEAKING BE PUT AWAY FROM YOU, WITH
ALL MALICE. ( EPHESIANS 4 : 31 )
Have you noticed?
In Luke 15 : 6, the man who found his lost sheep invited his
friends and neighbors to rejoice with him;
In Luke 15 : 9, the woman who found the lost coin invited her
friends and neighbors to rejoice with her;
But in Luke 15 : 23, when the younger son came back,
the father didn’t invite his friends or neighbors but only his
servants to rejoice with him!
Is it because of the Father’s nature to cover and not to
advertise about HIS children’s failures?
In fact, when the younger son used the word ‘sin’ in his
confession to his father in front of his servants, the father
quickly changed the subject and instructed the servants to
concentrate on the feast!
Is he not remembering anything of the repentant child’s past?
Again, when the elder son tried his best to remind his father
about the past life of his brother with all the details, the father
quickly changed the subject by explaining the elder one’s
privileges and not the younger one’s past?
Is he not allowing even the elder one to speak about the forgiven
sins of his own brother?
Strange but true!
For the father, ‘My son was dead and is alive again!’ is the only
way to express the things happened in his family; Whenever
repentance restores relationship, the father ignores the past
and influences his elder son and his servants also to ignore the
past of his younger son.
It is a family problem, why friends and neighbors?
If you repented and confessed your sins once, your father won’t remember them anymore!
Sometimes, like the younger son, your own mind may deceive
you to think, worry, feel guilty and speak about the confessed sin
again and again!.
If you are feeling guilty about the confessed and forgiven sin,
that is an insult to our Father and His Word!
Don’t try to explain your sin in detail under the cover of ‘ sharing
your testimony’; rather speak about HIS grace in detail!
Who can understand the depth of HIS grace?
Sometimes, may be most of the times, the elders may try to belittle
you by listing out the details even after your repentance!
Ignore them!. Stay close to your Father!
What your Father think and say about you only matters!
HE says that you are alive!
Why live like a corpse?
Let the power of resurrection fills you with the everlasting joy, hope
Repented? Our Father asked us to rejoice!
Let us rejoice!
THE LORD YOUR GOD IN YOUR MIDST,
THE MIGHTY ONE, WILL SAVE;
HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH GLADNESS,
HE WILL QUIET YOU IN HIS LOVE,
HE WILL REJOICE OVER YOU WITH SINGING.
( HABAKKUK 3 : 17 )
JESUS’ name had become well known and King Herod heard of JESUS; But the news about JESUS’ words and deeds disturbed Herod so much that he started making irrational comments!
You know the reason!
The cowardly way he misused his position to murder JOHN the baptist just to please Herodias, her daughter and the crowd that came to participate in his birthday party started tormenting him!
How many days he was able to control and hide his guilt and emotions we don’t know, but the news about JESUS brought the
dormant torments out!
See the irony, even the news about the Prince of peace disturbed the peace of Herod!
His attempt to please the crowd even against his own conviction and his procrastination to do the right thing, setting JOHN free, became a
dormant torment of his life; The wounds his conscience received on that day set up round the clock hounding in his mind!
Was it possible for Herod to participate and celebrate any more party with real enthusiasm and clear conscience?
Do you think partying is the norm of the day?
Compromising this and that here and there just to please the crowd?
Drowning in the sea of sin-kill singles?
Nominated and dominated by hypnotic Herodias?
Sacrificing the message and the messenger of GOD on the altar of applause?
Does your appetite for appreciation endorses your week-end silent surrendering and submission to conscious corrupting pills and bills?.
In the crowd he compromised; but was afflicted alone!
The dormant torments; Was it unavoidable?
Sleepless nights, fears and tears, hounding wounds, artificial smiles,
irrational assumptions and silent sufferings; Was it worth?
Come Home; Your Father is waiting!
To satisfy you with HIS grace!
Enough! Come back before it is too late!
HE only can heal and restore us!
The joy of the LORD will be your strength!
Week ends are supposed to be the stock verification hours of the soul for HIS people so that to offer Joyful worship on the Sabbath;
Don’t waste it on conscience corrupting, dreams drowning and energy emptying ways of the world promoted by the agents of abyss!
FOR HE WHO SOWS TO HIS FLESH WILL OF THE FLESH REAP CORRUPTION, BUT HE WHO SOWS TO THE SPIRIT WILL OF
THE SPIRIT REAP EVERLASTING LIFE. ( GALATIANS 6 :8 )
Three parables to illustrate repentance;
But have you noticed a subtle variation in the contents?
ONE: Luke 15 : 4 – 7. Lost sheep.
One in hundred;
How it got lost? – It does not matter!
Responsibility of searching lies with the owner;
He goes after it until he finds it.
Response of the sheep: It can not come back on its own
but can respond to the searching voice of the master!
Active response to the owner’s initiative!
TWO: Luke 15 : 8 – 10. Lost coin.
One in ten;
How it got lost? – It does not matter !
Responsibility of searching lies with the owner;
She seeks diligently until she finds it.
Response of the coin: It can not come back on its own
and it can not help, the owner in searching!.
Passive response to the owner’s initiative!
THREE: Luke 15 : 11 – 24.
One in two:
How he got lost? – Premeditated, willful rebellion!
Responsibility of searching becomes responsibility
of accepting provided the failed son takes the first
step of remembering the Father’s attributes and
returning back! Till that happens Father patiently waiting!
Response of the son: Accepting the unconditional acceptance!
Active response of the Father to the son’s initiative!
Dear friend, we all fail, we all fall; but we only know what
kind of failure we met;
In some cases, like the sheep, we have to wait for HIS voice
In some other cases, like the coin, we can not move on our
own and we have to wait for HIS searching light and seeking
But in most of the cases, like the son, we have to remember
HIS love for us and HIS attributes and worth, and repent!
May GOD give you the discernment to know your state and
to respond in the right way in the right time!
I SAY TO YOU, THERE IS JOY IN THE
PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD
OVER ONE SINNER WHO REPENTS.
( LUKE 15 : 10 )
JESUS saw their faith and healed the paralytic brought by
them. Is it not strange?
The paralytic got forgiveness and healing because of a team!
Who are they? Their name or native place?
Their relationship with the paralytic?
Who took the initiative and lead?
When obstacles came who encouraged them to ‘press on’?
Who gave the idea of uncovering the roof?
Was it not difficult to carry the paralytic to the rooftop?
How did they manage to remove tiles without disturbing
Did they know that JESUS knew about their faith?
So many unanswered questions, but about the team
we know some things;
1. They had a burden for the healing of that paralytic.
2. They got the information about ‘the move of GOD’.
3. They had unwavering faith on JESUS.
4. They were sharp enough to use the opportunity.
5. They were ready to carry the extra burden because
of their vision.
6. The closed paths were not strong enough to disturb
their unity and their faith.
7. They considered the closed paths as the reminders
to them to look up.
8. They knew that ‘out of the box thinking’ is also a tool
in the ‘inbox of faith’.
9. They knew how to balance their vision and themselves
even on the rooftop.
10.They were careful enough to carry the vision up to
their upper bound and then wise enough to let it
down at JESUS’ feet.
Don’t search the textbooks to know the definition of
” DREAM TEAM “.
Just observe these four men; their faith and perseverance!
See how GOD honored their faith!
Their vision: healing for one man;
GOD’s plan : forgiving and healing that person and using this situation to teach the most important truth to the mankind
‘THE SON OF MAN HAS POWER ON EARTH TO FORGIVE SINS’.
Dear friend, the Church history may have well known heroes
again and again but the unknown DREAM TEAMs are actually
keeping the flame burning and the light signing vibrantly by
their dedication, devotion, diligence and determination!
Do you think your vision, of bringing only one paralytic close
to JESUS, is not worth?
Do you compare your team and your vision with that of the
Remember, JESUS saw their faith!
JESUS knows your strength, desire, vision and faith.
Cheer up, He knows how to make it big!
RESPECT YOUR VISION!
RESPECT YOUR TEAM!
THE REST WILL BE HIS STORY AND HISTORY!
FOR AS WE HAVE MANY MEMBERS IN ONE BODY, BUT ALL
THE MEMBERS DO NOT HAVE THE SAME FUNCTION,SO WE,
BEING MANY, ARE ONE BODY IN CHRIST, AND INDIVIDUALLY MEMBERS OF ONE ANOTHER. (ROMANS 12 : 3 & 4 )
