WAITING ON THE WALL
JOSHUA 2 : 17 – 21.
Rahab of Jericho; Helped the spies of Israel; Saved her family from destruction; Commented for her faith and deeds of faith even in the New Testament (Hebrews 11 : 31, James 2 : 25).
But have you noticed the number of days she waited?
After getting the promise from the spies, the spies went to the mountain and hid there for three days( Joshua 2 : 22 );
Their return journey from Jericho to Acacia grove and reporting
to Joshua( Joshua 2 : 23);
The Israelites Journey from Acacia grove to Jordan(Joshua3:1 );
Lodging at the banks of river Jordan for three days (Joshua3:3 );
Crossing the river Jordan( Joshua 4 );
Camping at Gilgal at least for four days, for circumcision and Pass over celebration ( Joshua 4 : 19 & 5 : 10);
Marching around the Jericho city for seven days (Joshua 6 : 15);
At least seventeen days!. Surely much more than that!
From the time she bound the scarlet cord till the day of deliverance!
Even when she was waiting patiently on the wall, the Israelite
army was consistently moving towards the promise fulfillment!
Even when she can not see, things are actually happening!
She has nothing to lean on, except the promise of the spies!
Is it not our problem?
We trust; make decisions; start our faith life;
But in our visual world, if there is no signs towards the promised things, we cancel our waiting, come out of the set boundary, murmur, complain,cry, compromise and conclude
‘Faith will not work’.
Dear friend, believe, even when your visible world is silent and
still, things are happening in your favor in the invisible world!
Think about the last seven days before deliverance!
Seven days, the Israelite army encircling the city;
The battle plan was clear to Joshua and the Israelite;
But to Rahab, the person waiting on the wall?
What they are doing?
Why they encircle in a meaningless way?
Lack of confidence in this warfare?
Why not any logical step by step approach?
Joshua confused? Deliverance possible?
But Rahab waited, even when the things happening in the visible world were not rational, meaningless, boring, repetitive and against the hope!
Why not come out of that shelter, find our own way of escape?
This is the second part of our problem; we expect the deliverance to come in an programmed way and if the things happening in our visible world are meaningless to our little minds, we quit!
Dear friend, think about the deliverance of Rahab!
Carefully meditated, planned, executed and fulfilled!
Even when her ‘ waiting on the wall ‘ was so fuzzy?
Rahab, and her household, saw the promise fulfilled,
because Rahab ignored the visible happenings and
trusted the word of the spies.
If a person who trusted the words of the servants of Joshua
can have this kind of blessings and deliverance, tell me,
How much more will be the blessings, the person who trusts
‘The Word ‘ of the LIVING GOD?
WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM,
FOR HE WHO COMES TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT
HE IS, AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THOSE
WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM ( HEBREWS 11 : 6 ).
